PM4 vs PM5 plus ipad

Post by Marly » August 17th, 2020, 5:45 pm

Hi all, Just bought a C2 with a PM4. I’m primarily a runner, not a rower, and I’m completely new to C2. My goal is to use the C2 for fitness/cross training during covid and beyond. I’d like to use apps like Regatta to make rowing more interesting during our upcoming winter. Wondering if I need to upgrade to a PM5 or if I’m okay with an iPad and a PM4. I will also wear a fitness tracker (garmin or Fitbit Or Apple Watch) that can record heart rate and such. I know the C2 community has a lot of avid rowers, and I could be convinced to get more serious re stats and such, but starting out as someone looking to have some fun while staying fit. :D

Congratulations on purchasing the best rowing machine
I used to have a static linked to PM3 and rowpro
Main difference is PM5 has ant and Bluetooth : latter allows ergdata to link wireless y to iphone/ipad/Android ergdata
Rowpro and computer require cable
There is a cable to link PM4 to phone for ergdata
Also PM5 uses flywheel energy to power screen when rowing so longer battery life
Personally I would save money and buy rowpro but others may differ
Best wishes Adrian

The cost of the lightning to USB-B cable will be more than selling the PM4 (on an auction site) and buying a PM5 (which connects with BTLE).
