LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
rock and roll
Today I decided I’d row first and then ride. 7K rowed and 12 on the bike. First time I tried this but here’s what I noticed so far. I wasn’t quite a stiff when I got off the rower, usually I’m very stiff. The front of my hips were very good by the time I got off the bike. Now some hours later I notice my lower back is stiffening up some but not too bad at all. So combining the two in the same workout session just might be a good thing for me.
I downloaded an IOS ap, called Exercise Bike. It is free. Essentially it is just a glorified clock telling me when to go fast or slow. It uses the voice on the phone to talk to me much the same way that ErgData does. There are various interval workouts to choose from. Given it is an app on its own and requires attention to work one can’t be in both ErgData and Exercise Bike at the same time. I took my phone, connected it up and recorded the workout in my music editing program. I then brought in a bunch of songs that stand the test of time and saved it all to an MP3 file. Now I can listen to that file while in ErgData and get the stats I want. Since it is just an interval workout it works for rowing or biking.
There is another app I’m looking forward to trying. KREW. Is it available for android but not IOS yet. I read an article about it on the C2 page. I believe this is the one that you can program workouts on your device and it will send it to the PM5. Quite remarkable I think. For those that don’t know me. I’m blind and the PM doesn’t talk so using the phone with Voice Over is a big deal for me. Of course I prefer Sightless Wonder. Kidding, blind is fine.
Keep on Rock’n and roll’n

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 8.16.2020
For thrill-seekers everywhere! I believe photo is from the Luna Park in Australia...seems like teammate Bazzy spent time there!
Hooboy! We are more than halfway through August, and that means we are over the halfway mark in the Dog Days Challenge as well. This week and next week would not be the weeks to get behind and have to power through a bunch of meters on the last day.
And speaking of not getting behind, the wait list for ordering the various Concept2 erg machines is now at 9 to 10 weeks. Fast forward to that end point, and you will be just ahead of the Holiday Challenge. So, if you are thinking of putting a nice Holiday bow on an erg, get to the Concept2.com pages and put your name on the waitlist. No money down at the moment, and promises of email updates on where you are with the waitlist. Put your name on it now, and you can continue to consider carefully as the weeks pass by.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
i was on the wait list for a model d for 2 1/2 months. It was delivered this morning. What a beautiful, simple packing job. Super easy to assemble. Did my first 500 meter set in 2:18. It is going to take a bit to get my endurance back. That seat slides smooth as butter..what a difference over the ergs at the YMCA.... did my erg with my feet out of the footstraps and wearing only my Utilikilt in the driveway. I'm thinking thee are not many erging in a Utilikilt on a driveway paved with Nelsonville star sidewalk bricks..... LOL!! Time to hydrate and do another erg. Will be entering my first log book meters since February. disappointed to not be able to do the Dog Days Challenge... will make up for the Holiday Challange!

What a great day! Now that you have your own erg, you are officially spoiled! Congrats!brick1101 wrote: ↑August 17th, 2020, 1:22 pmi was on the wait list for a model d for 2 1/2 months. Although I am almost afraid to ask what a utilikilt is...
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I live in my Utilikilts...
I also collect bricks.. this was taken at a "Brick Swap" last year....

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I had to go looking for your Utilikilts ... only in Seattle! Doesn't the kilt hang over the side, and get caught up between the rail and the seat? (Inquiring minds really do want to know. I can't row in my zipskirt, for that reason. Tried it. Lucky I didn't break my nose!)

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I make sure I'm sitting on the entire back section of the kilt. This material is pretty stiff like Carhart jeans... the front tents over my thighs and just hangs to the sides. I'm spoiled now.... I'm working up doing 500 meter sets nearly every hour. I'm amazed how out of shape I've gotten from no workouts at the Y since March. The air system at the Y was always at "frigid". I'm in heaven erging in 93°heat under the carport.I drive my neighbors and friends crazy as I only run the central air at night for sleeping. Otherwise my doors and windows are wide open!!
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Er....so is this like going commando in a way that your neighbors are ok with?

I'm sorry I got busy and just saw your reply. Here is the one I have on my bikerg right now: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B646ZZY/re ... oFbFY9AXYTKona2 wrote: ↑August 14th, 2020, 5:34 pmI was hoping you would chime in, Brett. Who makes the seat that you use now? I’m interested in the photo yet Thor will need additional info. I have broken in Brooks saddles without issue several times, but I get that everybody is different. Minnie might like the wide seat with springs - she said she wanted a tractor style!BigBrett58 wrote: ↑August 14th, 2020, 5:06 pmThor,
I immediately replaced the bikerg seat with one of my own bike seats. After a few more days, I just bought a really wide, thick seat with springs. Love it. Maybe the bike shorts make you happy. If not, a nice big soft seat will.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
When I bought that seat last November, it was $36. Right now, it's $54. Maybe you can find a better deal somewhere else.

Thanks, Brett! Always in favor of changes that keep a bike erger on the bike steed! And generally when one person has a question....there are several who have the same question!
And we would never have had the "conversation" if Thor hadn't shared his thoughts on the seat! Good man, mighty Thor!
