A celebration of the bizarreness of 2020 - 20 x 20 seconds with 20 seconds rest. Difficult to settle into a rhythm which I think is a very appropriate metaphor for this year.
For a timed piece the amount of time you're proposing has to be a
integer number of minutes.
20 reps of 20 seconds is only 6 minutes 40 seconds, so isn't eligible for a CTC. You'd have to round up to 21 reps (for seven minutes).

So 19 x anything is not going to work....... unless it was in m's or 1 minute, i.e. 19 x 100m with rests
IMHO, there is nothing flippant about marking COVID 19, it is reflective, and there is nothing comedy about sprints. However, if peeps deem better to stay away from the subject then so be it.
20 x 20sec with 20 rests also seems fun

That's unfortunate. Is it because the pace and watts calculator on the c2ctc website is set up that way?
I understand if people don't want to "celebrate" Covid-19, but 2020m would be almost a repeat of July. Historically speaking we've often been the "sprint" team, so among the orinal set of proposals my vote would go to either a straight 500m, or "4x150m/3'R, fastest and slowest counts".

I like the numarical suggestions: here are some extra to think about:
20x202m with 20 secs rest (solves the problem of the 20x20 begin below 7 minutes)
10x202m with 20 secs rest (makes for a total of 2020m)
4x505m with 2 minutes rest (4x505=2020 and 4x2 makes 8 for august 2020)
I like the idea of letting the slowest intervall count. It forces you to go as flat as possible!

2020 suggests 20' r20 - the kicker for me is that when training I expect every stroke to be r20 and get disappointed after a long stretch when I see r19. It usually means I've lost concentration or getting tired or both
.
I too am in Ewen's camp - a 500m sprint is probably doable sometime in August.

The 500m holds a special place in my heart, but if we're going for numerical fun, my favourite would be "10x202m with 20 secs rest (makes for a total of 2020m)".
Don't know if I'm helping at this point

500m done in 2011, low volume = higher than usual participation, one shot, all-in F&D intensity less of a challenge than flat-paced intervals directed at optimising fastest or slowest for challenge entry.
I could see the single scoot or the flat-pacing conundrum from Ronald. The search for numbers that sum to significant numbers for the challenge title is frustrating. To me, it boils down to 500m or best/worst of 3 for record. The 20’r20 does have the virtue of pointing directly to the title hook “The Flyers’ 2020 “.

Thanks everyone for the creative ideas coming out, but it looks like the well has dried up.
I've sifted through the long list, removed the impossible, done some creative editing to combine similar ideas, and appropriately enough for the 8th month we have 8 proposals to vote on.
Team members can now vote by responding on the forum thread, the Facebook group, or sending me a PM. I'll close voting whenever I check the forum on Monday 27 July, which should give all the time zones until the end of Sunday 26 July to get votes in. One vote per member, but you can change your vote at any time until I close the ballot.
The Magnificent 8...
500m
4 x 750m (2 min rest)
4 x 150m (3 min rest) - fastest and slowest intervals count
8 x 888m (2 min rest)
20 x 202m (20 secs rest)
10 x 202m (20 secs rest)
4 x 505m (2 min rest) - slowest interval to count
20 min (rate capped at 20spm)
To get the ball rolling, I'm voting for the 4 x 505m (love those pacing challenges!).
Cheers
Dave

Jean casts her vote on 4x150/R3 Hi+Lo for entry.
Jack‘s vote for 4x505, slowest rep for record.

Thanks Jack. I forgot that there were a couple of double-voting households on the team, and interesting to see that there isn't a single house view being pushed

Ahh, that's true. Let's not speak too loudly, because so far only Arno has cast a vote, and he could influence the result singlehandedly!
