Hey guys,

New 2k PB today!

Time Meters Pace S/M
6:38.8 2000 1:39.7 30
1:39.3 500 1:39.3 31
1:40.4 1000 1:40.4 30
1:39.9 1500 1:39.9 31
1:39.3 2000 1:39.3 31

My goal today was to break 6:40 so I'm really pleased with my score. My previous 2k PB was 6:49.3, so this was also an 11 second PB for me! I planned to go out at 1:39, hold onto 1:40ish for the middle 1000, and give whatever I had at the end. I was definitely in pain for the last 500m, and had little sprint left, but I knew as long as I pulled around 1:39 I had the >6:40 in the bag. I also did the customary post-2k routine of laying on the floor for a solid 5 minutes before cooling down
thats excellent work - very well done!! Really good pacing!
It looks like you and I are similar builds and we've both started rowing fairly recently and our times are starting to match up. Given youth is on your side you'll be eclipsing me soon. feel free to target some of my PB's for various distances - probably all quite achievable for you over the next 3 months :) you'll then be giving me targets to chase :D
182cm; 89kg; 1km = 2.57.5; 2km = 6.19; 4mins = 1296; 5km = 16.49; 6km = 20.24; 30mins = 8605; 10km= 35.31; 60 minutes = 16205 HM = 1:18.50

Well done. A well paced piece. At your age you are only going to be chipping seconds of your times as you develop.
Oh to be young again! I’m so envious.

Thanks Ian! I'm not so sure about my times eclipsing yours given your consistent PB's, but I will definitely use your times as goals over the next couple of months :) I would especially like to get my 5k into the 17's soon. At some point maybe you'll be chasing my times, but I would say that may be quite a ways away.

Glad to report I redeemed myself after yesterdays failure. Took forum advice and went with the negative split approach for the 10km effort.

I aimed to average first 5km with 1.48's and then 2nd 5km with 1.46 for a total of 35.40. I knew that was ambitious but i also knew 1.46.5's in the 2nd half would still get me a PB.
alas, no 35.40 but a 10 second PB. Man it was hard and just goes to show how mad i was attempting a positive split approach yesterday.

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
35:45.4 10,000m 1:47.2 284 1275 25
3:35.4 1,000m 1:47.7 280 1264 26
3:35.6 2,000m 1:47.8 279 1261 27
3:36.2 3,000m 1:48.1 277 1253 27
3:35.5 4,000m 1:47.7 280 1262 28
3:36.0 5,000m 1:48.0 278 1256 27
3:34.2 6,000m 1:47.1 285 1280 30

3:31.7 10,000m 1:45.8 295 1315 33
Wow, that's an amazing result. Paced it well too with the negative split which I need to do for the 10K - this is further proof.

I need to not do 30r20 sessions more often. PB by 124m and it was January 5th the last time I have tried a TT for this session, and I think it's only my sixth ever 30r20 TT.

I was expecting to scrape in just over 8k as I have only done slow low rate sessions for months but it just felt like it was 'on' so I kept pulling. I faded near the end but no way near what I expected.

It looks like the competition from Ian has helped get me in the zone. I fully expect this to be beaten by Ian, so I might have to go again before the month's end.

Stu, if you can this, there is no chance in hell you can’t pull sub 36 on the 10k. Could be you rate way to high. Based on this 146.x would be very normal.

I'll have even more of an appreciation after tomorrow morning (first 30r20 scheduled), but even for someone as inexperienced as me, it's very easy to see how impressive that is. Nice work!
