I've done two 2k time trials before, but I had never taken a shot at a 1k. Did my first 1k time trial on the erg today, and I was really happy with the result.
Time Meters Pace S/M
3:09.3 1,000m 1:34.6 33
:47.7 250m 1:35.4 34
:47.2 500m 1:34.4 33
:47.8 750m 1:35.6 33
:46.5 1,000m 1:33.0 32
This also gives me the confidence with the doubling the distance +5 seconds/500m rule, that I could potentially crack 6:40 on a 2k soon (as +5 would put me at 1:39.6/500m or a 6:38-6:39). This would be a great PB for me given that my previous best was 6:49 (a little over a month ago). I'm most likely going to do that 2k next weekend, so I'm very excited!

Somewhat buoyed with some other times I thought I’d give it a go but be sensible this time and avoid a HD at all costs. The plan worked - hard away, sit on 1:45 and wind it up from 400 with everything I’d got left for the last 21 strokes. I don’t think my HR really was 208 though, saw 181 on the monitor.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Glad to report I redeemed myself after yesterdays failure. Took forum advice and went with the negative split approach for the 10km effort.
I aimed to average first 5km with 1.48's and then 2nd 5km with 1.46 for a total of 35.40. I knew that was ambitious but i also knew 1.46.5's in the 2nd half would still get me a PB.
alas, no 35.40 but a 10 second PB. Man it was hard and just goes to show how mad i was attempting a positive split approach yesterday.

Very nice Oliver. Plenty more to come from you, I think. This is very strong, especially for a relative newbie.
Can't argue with that, Tony. Very good work, and still perhaps a little in the tank (probably didn't feel like it!). The biggest milestone of all knocked off.
I thought you'd been a bit quiet, Ian. Another cracking piece of work. I think we might need to petition C2 for a "well done Ian" button.iangallagher wrote: ↑July 3rd, 2020, 8:23 pm<>

Thank you Max!max_ratcliffe wrote: ↑July 3rd, 2020, 11:15 pmVery nice Oliver. Plenty more to come from you, I think. This is very strong, especially for a relative newbie.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Hey guys,
New 2k PB today!
Time Meters Pace S/M
6:38.8 2000 1:39.7 30
1:39.3 500 1:39.3 31
1:40.4 1000 1:40.4 30
1:39.9 1500 1:39.9 31
1:39.3 2000 1:39.3 31
My goal today was to break 6:40 so I'm really pleased with my score. My previous 2k PB was 6:49.3, so this was also an 11 second PB for me! I planned to go out at 1:39, hold onto 1:40ish for the middle 1000, and give whatever I had at the end. I was definitely in pain for the last 500m, and had little sprint left, but I knew as long as I pulled around 1:39 I had the >6:40 in the bag. I also did the customary post-2k routine of laying on the floor for a solid 5 minutes before cooling down

Well done. A well paced piece. At your age you are only going to be chipping seconds of your times as you develop.oliverpt wrote: ↑July 5th, 2020, 4:59 pmHey guys,
