Model C Upgrade

Post by dasboot » June 24th, 2020, 10:17 am

I recently picked up a Model C at a great price that I'm keen to do some upgrades to. The paint's severely chipped and does flake every now and then from the seat rollers.
On the monorail, there's a dent (pics below) – I've looked over the C2 guide and other users' posts, however, it looks like the monorail is essentially an 'i' beam, welded, with no way to replace it. What am I missing here?

The pitch of the monorail seems greater than ~1° – should I be concerned?

Aside from the monorail, I'll be replacing the PM2 -> PM5 and console arm, a new seat set, replacing the wooden handle. Chain and chord seem to be in good condition.

Thanks everyone!

The 1° pitch is normal (and a FAQ on here).

The stainless steel monorail track is a user replaceable part.

This should help with the rail replacement job:

Look about 3/5 down the page for "Monorail Stainless Track Replacement"

(I didn't post a link directly to the PDF file because 1) I wanted you to see all the other bits of info available, and 2) I didn't know your erg's production date.)

The monorail is a single piece of extruded aluminum that is hollow in the middle. The track is stainless steel that is adhered to the monorail. Both parts are available- I notice the paint on the monorail is in really bad shape, so you can either replace that or do a disassembly, repaint the monorail and put a new track on; or you can get the rail and track and reuse your rear leg and attachment components. Call C2 to get pricing and availability....JonW

Yes. You need the PM5 retrofit kit.

I guess the retrofit kit will be in the package with the PM5 monitor, if I order the monitor via the official shop?

You have to specifically request it. You'll also get a PM5 that defaults to a model C configuration.
