Great work Tony,
This is a very good time, but I suspect you'll go a faster still soon as you get more experienced on the erg.
Great work Tony,
Very impressive result Rod. Well doneRod wrote: ↑June 13th, 2020, 9:32 amToday.... it was the ''BIG ONE'', the Marathon,
Delighted to report I set a new British record in the 60-69 year olds Lightweight (under 75 kilo) Category.
2:47:22.5
1:59.0 pace
It also beat the Hwt record...so there's a target for you Nick Rockliff!
I was ably encouraged by my wife Carol Woodward and got into shape for it thanks to some great coaching from Eddie Fletcher so the record splits 3 ways I think!
I'm now going to start a 3 month training program with Eddie for a 100k and see if I can break the British Record for that one...as it's roughly 63 miles it will make a nice thing to do on my 63rd Birthday in September...that should earn me a decent sized bit of cake!
Very well done, excellent performance!Rod wrote: ↑June 13th, 2020, 9:32 amToday.... it was the ''BIG ONE'', the Marathon,

Only ever done one FM and that was a long long time ago. Never even thought about doing another but then again didn't say I wouldn't.

I'm just practising. 3 years to go.
But hope to come close to me effort of yesterday.

A big ''Thank you'' for the positive comments to all the kind folk that have taken the time and trouble to make them on here, they are very much appreciated I assure you and I'm just sorry I can't reply to them all individually as that would clog up the page for quite a while!
This really deserves its own post as it's got lost.sjors wrote: ↑June 13th, 2020, 1:34 pm

That's an excellent result, and this not being a PB makes it even more remarkable
It's inevitable that we slow down, but regardless this is a extremely enviable result for any age.sjors wrote: ↑June 14th, 2020, 10:10 amThanks. It was max.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑June 14th, 2020, 9:59 amThis really deserves its own post as it's got lost.sjors wrote: ↑June 13th, 2020, 1:34 pm

I fear I’m in the age category where PBs are getting unreachable. But who knows if I can find new strategies.
Also done on a hot day outside. 25c ish. No matter what that is not optimal. The same effort on a cooler day will be faster.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑June 14th, 2020, 10:14 amIt's inevitable that we slow down, but regardless this is a extremely enviable result for any age.sjors wrote: ↑June 14th, 2020, 10:10 amThanks. You sure put the Pow WoW in that one Rod Even just doing a FM is great one to tick off... i doubt you'd catch me doing one! 30 mins is enough for me these daysRod wrote: ↑June 13th, 2020, 9:32 amToday.... it was the ''BIG ONE'', the Marathon,

Thanks Anth, kind of you to say, given how badly my glutes still ache today I'd say you're the sensible one...going over 30 mins can cause pain that lasts a loooong time!
Great stuff, Rod! What a roll you're on. You're an inspiration to us older, LW rowers.
