Two PBs in two days - I might have to change my name to Ian, Jo Andre or Martin
1:00.0 328m 1:31.4 457 1874 48 176
Proper F&D and a landed fish-style 48spm.
No more of this for me for now.
Well thanks for that Max! now I have to try and pull 3m out of somewhere!
Well done!

Thanks all. Had an eye on Alex's 337m for a bit but then the D part of F&D really kicked in.

Sorry Dino,
I'd happily trade the 2m difference for a 15k hour, though.

Usually do 4 x6 mins with 4R on Thursdays but training has been going well so decided to test 5K. Not sure how I would go as did 1 hour of intervals on Wattbike last night.Very pleased to get a new PB. It has given me hope that a few more months training and rested up that sub 18 might be possible this year.

Thanks Martin.. I won't try for another couple of months. More training, rested legs and perhaps a few kgs off the frame will hopefully get me there.

Well done Phil. I agree with everyone else, sub 18 isn't far off at all for a few reasons:
Your start could have been a bit quicker, and with more confidence you will start at 1:49.x
Your last 1k was good so you have got enough left to chip away at the other splits.
There was no obvious wobble (I usually get one at 3.5k-4k) so I suspect that, as hard as this probably felt, you still have a bit more to squeeze out. Sub 18 is a notable milestone so you are possibly 'worrying' yourself into not giving everything (emotional brain will be dominant and telling you not to keep going so hard, due to the Wattbike yesterday)

Thank you for your kind words and analysis Stu. I think you are right that the mind plays a big role in this. I like to do negative splits and I have a big fear of going out too fast and with hindsight I probably lost 2-4 seconds in the first 2k today.

It's been a while since I last posted here but I'm glad I now have an excuse.
Lockdown has been good for me - consistent Pete Plan since January and I just beat my first proper PB since 2017, knocking 4s off my 5k to get 18:33.3
