Can this one team row to the moon and back?

If we were to sign up, would our LUNA-TICS meters count for both "ships"?
I think at one point during the spring challenge one of my rows actually counted towards FOUR different events!

If you are thinking of entering this one, don't do it from an Android device, date of birth is a mandatory field that defaults to today and can only be changed one month at a time! Use a PC, then you can type in the year.

EDIT - Just checked out the leaderboard, and Australia is in first place thanks to a large number of participants. The US is a little under represented, in sixth place behind Peru, who have an enthusiastic team of 14.

Jantuut, you could make a valuable addition to the Dutch contribution, so far two team members have contributed a total of 10m.
Thanks for the info Andrew!
I am not planning to join if there are no other lunies interested,
but if we do not help them they do not have the "speed" to get to the moon in time IMHO ;).
I looked at the numbers and they are interesting, as some entries have decimals for total meters (the Concept2 erg showing less than 1m...) Maybe some folks enter km in lieu of meters (hence the small numbers), others use the "," and "." delimiters reversed...
NB: The US is now slightly ahead of Peru :D.
Well, it looks as if Rowing to the Moon is a lot harder that the organisers expected, even with large numbers on board it takes patience and determination, and a bit more that three weeks!

Image

The diagram may be hard to read, the top line is the target number of metres against elaspsed time, the lower one is the number achieved at each date. 332,417,135.5 meters to touchdown -- 51,982,869.5 total meters rowed.

Btw, in case you've not seen this:

J K Rowling, the Harry Potter and novels for adults writer, decided to put a story that evolved from one she wrote earlier and read to own children, online. She is posting two or three chapters a day - free access at www.theickabog.com . It's not a Harry Potter story, and adults I know are enjoying it just as younger people are enjoying it. Give it a look. There is something compelling about looking forward to a continuing chapter (at least on weekdays at her site). The weekday postings run from May 26 - July 10th I think. The complete book is to be published in November, with proceeds going to those affected by coronovirus.
Just started "The Ickabog" and liking it. Thanks for the tip.

On average, it takes the Lunies about three seasons to reach the moon. Over 500 Lunies throughout the years have made our lunar landings possible. Our journey is long, and made much more interesting by our teammates! It would be difficult to engage multiple teams across the Rowing to the Moon platform...but not impossible! Thanks for the update on how the RTTM mission is going, Andrew .

Finally got Maddie and Kaitlyn signed onto the team. Seems like there are 2 places that you have to do it. Maddie is trying to complete the heptathlon but is intimidated by the longer events. Kaitlyn is trying to keep up with her big sister in total meters. They are 12 and 8. My youngest is 5 and she really wants to compete too. You may see a Jocelyn join Madelyn and Kaitlyn as some point.

A heptathlon! What a great challenge to get back in the saddle on! I feel better after my break and am anxious to get back into regular rowing.

BTW I got tested for the Covid-19 antibodies and it came back positive, so as I suspected I did have the virus during the Spring Series (that really fun :P new challenge). So that explains the heart racing and the lethargic feeling. At least mine was a relatively mild case. I just hope it gives me immunity to any future exposure. Thanks for all of the support Lunies. You guys are an inspiration and a great group of teammates.
WOW Jodi that’s pretty amazing. I have a feeling lots of people have had it that don’t yet know they had it. So you participated in Spring VIII with the corona and still kicked butt! Your a beast. Good news is your now bullet proof and can come and go as you please.

I work in an “essential” industry so my life didn’t change much during the lockdown periods. I have stayed away from my parents and older people who are higher risk. I have gone through a couple periods during this where I felt poor and the glands in my neck were swollen. I would check my temp a couple times each day and never ran a fever so I was never tested. I wrote it off to allergies, because we were going through the allergy season in the south. I would like to get an antibody test when they become more widely available.

At any rate, good job kicking ‘rona’s butt!!!
Thanks for the encouragement Ken :D I appreciate it.
I rowed the 10,000m today and most decidedly DID NOT kick butt. I struggled through it but was determined to finish.
So weird how you can row one day and feel like you've conquered a distance, only to row it again another day and feel like a novice. :?

Good onya Jodi and well done, finishing is "kicking-butt", perhaps more so when your are "struggling", so don't be too harsh on yourself...! And glad you've gotten over the virus. Cheers, Baz :) (Blue cloudless skies in the Harbour City - just how we like our winter B) )

Maybe you still have some residual effects of the Covid-19. Give it another try some time later. You can always rank a better time.
