I talked my 12 year old daughter, Maddie, into giving this heptathlon a try. She did the 1 minute on the bike thinking it would be easy. She cranked out a 1:55.1 pace. I was so proud of her. She typically rides at around a 3 minute pace. The competition bug bit her.
Way to go Maddie!
This is a great sport to be involved with and a fine group of people to do it with. Have fun!

10K done!!! Not my PB but the goal was a sub 40min 10k and just barely got it.

Glad to have that in the rear view. Guess I’ll see how I feel tomorrow to determine what race that will be. My legs are burning!
That's a great one to have in the bag, well done Ken! I recommend you go for something slow, or short, or both!
It was cold and dark and I was not feeling that great, so I postponed the 10k in favour of the 20 minutes. I thought I was not taking it seriously, but in fact beat the pb for 5k I set during the Spring challenge by nearly 15 seconds along the way! At least the nonathlon will let me scale it down, I really don't want to do that again.

Great 20 Min. I am going to give that a try today and see if I can get that knocked out. Congrats on the PB!

Yesterday I recorded a PB on the 10,000 m: 53:46.2 min (2:41.1 ave split). My previous, back in Dec. 2013 (before all the years of chemo), was 55:25.5 min. This is the longest I've rowed without rest breaks since that time. It ranks me #1 of 4 in the little old lady category (at least until more results come in, haha).
Congrats! That's a great accomplishment! I went the other direction on my 10k row this morning. This is day 3 with no carbs for me. I thought I was going to die. I think I took 4 breaks.

That’s awesome!!! Good job on the PR, and your recovery from the cancer treatment and cancer.

That's fabulous Norma, you deserve a PB! The number responses to your achievement is in direct proportion to the amount of support and encouragement you have provided us Lunies over the years. I would like to take the opportunity to say thanks personally.

OK, thanks everybody. Enough fanfare for my really not very impressive time. I just got excited, like recovering something I thought I had lost.

Norma cheers everyone on - sometimes with messages that land in the inbox - sometimes online for all to see. I thought that the recovering something thought lost statement was more of a victory than the PB statement - and worthy of calling it out even when Norma says no more fanfare. Our PBs are rarely about a specific speed or number of meters. Sure, the actual event might be that but the resolution to keep after it is something totally different. So - we applaud (and would insert fireworks if I could) the resolution to try more, be better, achieve better and keep going for the next milestone...can't set the dial on the erg for the drive that makes that happen. Well done - and keep going!
The Lunies roster is growing! 107 Lunies as of this AM, and a hearty welcome to Andrew C, with welcome backs to Lee M and Michael G! Always good to see new and returning teammates on the roster!
True to hoped for outcomes, Concept2 has generated an individual tracking sheet that appears under your Challenges page to show where you are with the various heptathlon events. Am wondering if there is a new calibration going on with indoor rowers going for a mile at 1609 m and bike ergers doing the 4000 m ...which is more than double. I have sent the courier ship off to the Concept2 mothership for an answer.

Btw, in case you've not seen this:
J K Rowling, the Harry Potter and novels for adults writer, decided to put a story that evolved from one she wrote earlier and read to own children, online. She is posting two or three chapters a day - free access at www.theickabog.com . It's not a Harry Potter story, and adults I know are enjoying it just as younger people are enjoying it. Give it a look. There is something compelling about looking forward to a continuing chapter (at least on weekdays at her site). The weekday postings run from May 26 - July 10th I think. The complete book is to be published in November, with proceeds going to those affected by coronovirus.
