We have August, because TokyoRow asked to jump the queue to coincide with his plan to finish his long-term challenge at the same time as the Olympics. Even though that fell through I decided not to cause confusion by asking to reverse the offer. Gives us an extra month to think of something juicy!

‘Early Bird/No Worm’ attempt at June CTC. My personal challenge this month is warming a seat in every FF boat and finally finishing out of the points DNF. I’m certain I have what it takes.B)

Image

Did this one cold start but at late afternoon to allow time for everything (lumbar discs) to come online. Don’t appear to have tweaked any essential bits. Just barely reached top AT pace on oxy transport HR and couldn’t get rate above 23 spm for long. But I got my four Maffetonish HR-capped fat burners and this little gasper to show for last week and must be content with that.

Interesting idea, Jack. I normally like to get an early effort in just in case the month gets too busy, but I like the idea of trying to drift through the boats. Looks like you're still on your own, so I haven't missed my chance yet.

Training motivation is lacking a bit at the moment. I thought having the British Rowing Virtual Champs at the end of June would help focus the mind, but the colder, darker evenings are making it harder to get on the rower after work. I did a half marathon on Saturday to tick off an entry for the FMMC, and combined with the scheduled 50 minute UT2 session, so it was slow, but still a season best :D . This weekend I'm going to do all the BikeErg heptathlon events in one session, so that should be a useful 90 minute or so spin to burn off some of the lockdown eating excess!

Hey everyone. I've just started using the online logbook for the June heptathlon and am looking for a virtual club affiliation. I've been reading your team thread here and you all seem pretty fun and knowledgeable. Mind if I tag along?

A bit about me. I have a cycling background, but have been focused on powerlifting for the last few years. Owned the erg for a while but mostly used it for warm-ups and the odd 2k test. I've stopped lifting heavy weights in the last few months and have been doing more cardio which is when I rediscovered the rower and the online challenges.

I'm a bit of a data geek and having the metrics, rankings, and some goals to shoot for is pretty exciting at this point.

Hi tonomonic

Welcome on board! We're always keen on enthusiastic members who are looking for a longer-term home. Our new member guide should help get you up and running quickly, but ask here if there is anything more you need to know.

Thanks for the background, but please add a bit more if you're comfortable - first name, rough age range, location, etc. are always helpful to the other members. We are spread across the world, but it's good to find some new locations (or even be surprised that you're near another team member).

We need to work on a summary of the existing team members to help catch the new members up, but hopefully you'll figure it out from the forum over time!

Cheers
Dave

Welcome aboard. Glad to have you! From personal experience I can tell you that a cycling background in combination with a couple of powerlifting is a good base for the erg :-) Very curious to see what PB's you'll be able to set...

Welcome indeed - I have seen your numbers and there isn't a potato in sight although your highly evolved rowing man cave probably has somewhere to flop after training. The average age of the FF members is continuing to fall - great news and pretty exciting.
