Yeah, he holds the 40-50yr WR 100m (12.9) and 1' (416m), super strong! Thank you! For the time being I’ve only been doing 2k’s and other interval type training. I haven’t tried the 5k yet, but I’ll be giving it a go soon I think- probably when I plateau out on the 2k!

Plateau? You only just started, you are sub6 material. Start reading about how to train, 2k rowing is 90% about building your aerobic base. Totally agree. Don't start letting thoughts of limits cloud your thoughts, you have got exceptional potential.
Add some long and slow distances to your programme and you will keep getting faster for a while to come yet.

A very down and up week for me. Decided to have a good crack at the erg while in lockdown, and using it as rehab from my knee operation in March. I've never been that serious before but have done fairly well in two competitions over the last couple of years - sub 7min 2ks. Did a few weeks of practicing technique and getting used to the machine again then did a 3 week rotation of the Peter Plan.
Thought I'd have a bash at a 2k on Wednesday to see where I am but did a classic 'fly and die'.
Thursday decided to do an hour at HR 130 and was pleased with just under 15,000m.
A bit masochostic but then went for a HM today and very pleased to crack 1.5 hours.
Need to get my confidence back to try another 2k but thinking of really racking up the metres over the next 3 weeks. Before statring again I'd never stayed on the machine for more than 20 mins!

If I read your post correctly, every one of your ranked pieces is a PB? Congratulations many times over - a PB is a PB even when it's your first go.
This applies especially to the HM as it's a looong way and sitting on the erg for the best part of 90mins is an achievement in itself.
You could milk the praise for longer by posting each PB separately in future

I did some quick times (up to 2k) as a young, strong, fit rugby player when we’d jump on, damper to 10 and muscle it out. That was a different time, so I’m starting over as a broken bodied, 57 year old, envious of youth.

I think this is a PB by 2m but I was losing power near the end and I'm feeling slightly jaded atm so I was glad to get it done as it's the Team Oarsome monthly challenge so I've only got today and tomorrow to do it. As I have only ever done five (I think) of these sessions it'll hopefully keep improving
I'm blowing my nose quite a lot atm so I'm wondering if I'm suffering slightly from an allergy.

I expect this was pretty tough as you had no time to adapt to the faster stuff so far, a good bit more in you after some short interval sessions
An allergy can cost you some %, I had the same problem in march.
