To manage to crank out a fast pace after a HD is a big ask, so well done mate. You're also right about your weight as your quite close to that horrible weight that inevitably means less power but still rates you as a HWT.

Good effort Max!
What was your rating?
Thanks gents,
I rated 42, but that apart it was perhaps a slightly conservative effort. Hopefully I've got another few metres in me... it took me 6s to get up to speed according to ErgData, which seems quite a while for such a short piece.

TBH, I'd happily swap it for completing my intervals today. They felt really hard from the get-go - think I had just forgotten how far 750m can seem, and it wasn't one of my better efforts.

I really should have a crack at losing the weight! No one to blame but myself!

Egregious HD on my intervals session today for no good reason that I can think of. So I waited a few minutes, cranked the drag up to 132 from my usual 115ish and had a crack at the 1' as a salve to my bruised ego.

First ever actual 1' TT, so an automatic PB at 321m (it would have been a really bad day if I'd gone less far than I have in 1' intervals!).

Only 36%ile, but that's okay for a too-fat-to-be-a-lightweight :)
PB is a PB! I think of myself as LWT really too. :D
I mean, as a HWT you could be lumped in with a 6'6" monster who was born to row basically. Never ever gunna compete with that.

Not sure what "egregious" means but it sounds good. :D
Thanks Paul,

350m is really going some for a LWT!

The wife's roller derby league uses "egregious" in their rule book, in the sense of an "egregious foul", meaning a straight red. It has a flavour of meaning being conspicuously and noticeably bad, rather than just awful (think Ronnie Rosenthal).

Do experiment with DF but watch your back. I've found you can train yourself quite rapidly at the short stuff. Also...spm=42 is way too low...use more half strokes and aim for 50ish. What was your LP? That will tell you if you have v good basic power if low (I don't) and therefore only other way to do it is train for more power OR really rate up, which is what I do. IMO you should be pulling strokes around your average within 4 strokes...if I'm firing on all cylinders atm mine will go 1:55, 1:36, 1:27....and then really concentrate on keeping the flywheel spinning. Really focus on tension and economy (all your effort both mental and physical going into the chain) so not to leak power...and watch you don't ease up a fraction before the line too.

Nice one Max. Looks like quite a measured approach on the logbook graph although I bet it didn't feel like it so more to come!
I think I have only tried it twice and both were more like fly and die... with emphasis on the dying in the last 20 seconds!

I still am young, although if you twist my arm I may have to admit that I am approaching my late mid-forties now, what with my forty-tenth birthday coming up in November.

I could also do 5 2ks in a three week span (unfortunately, none within a minute of JDL's time), and if I really had to, could probably get to 110kg.

Thanks Dino,
It looks controlled - I am surprised how flat the pace graph is.

Started off with legs and a semi-decent stroke, descended into a panicked almost-arms-only and finished up with me scaring the fan into spinning by gurning at it.
