Re: British Rowing Virtual Champs
Looks interesting. I haven't done a 2km in actual competition before so I might have a punt off of my cycling training.

Re: British Rowing Virtual Champs
Signed up for the 2k, so I had better start preparing for it but I might have one last ultra distance challenge to do next week.
It looks like it will be 2 x 2k over the weekend as there is surely going to be more than 20 in each round. Hopefully the first 2k semi-final will be sub max

Anyone else planning on doing this?
I've had a pretty long break from competitive rowing, but have been caning the erg during lockdown and thought a 2km in 6 weeks time would give me just the motivation I needed to finally lose some weight and get fit. Putting together a bit of a program for the build up. Would be cool to find some others keen to do some of the same workouts and push each other on.

I would love to participate. One of the cool things about indoor rowing I think is the ability to race virtually due to the technology. Which is great to me since from my research, there are very few indoor meets in my region of the US. I'll have to make sure I can figure out how to hook up to the computer before signing up. I have a PM5 so idt it should be too complicated... though, I am technologically challenged.

Re: British Rowing Virtual Champs
I wrote up my programme this morning for this. I'm not willing to compromise my cycling a huge deal so I'll be doing around 6 sessions of biking, 4 of rowing (which is around 12 hours total). I'll check the computer link later today but I'm aiming for 6:45 as a heavyweight based on guestimations and initial tests over shorter durations. I should add this is coming from a low point as I was only rowing once a week prior to this for cross training purposes.
Re: British Rowing Virtual Champs
Hi, I want to sign up for this - but not sure whether I've got capability for the software connection. I've got a PM3 - and reading as much as I can today I realise that I can't use ErgData without a connecting lead, so not sure what options I have with just the USB cable (which I do have). The requirements just say you need to update firmware, USB cable and Chrome browser, but doesn't go beyond that. Anyone know what software will be used and whether I can connect using a PM3?
I'm also keen to get data uploaded to the online log, and then on to Strava - any ideas on my best route for doing that?
Thanks
Andy

Re: British Rowing Virtual Champs
I expect you'll need to use the USB lead to plug into a laptop running the Chrome browser, with the race software running inside Chrome. ErgData won't be needed.
If you're connecting the PM3 to the laptop with the lead, you should be able to use the Concept2 software to upload results to the online logbook. I'm not sure if it will preserve stroke data which would be needed for Strava. I don't think the PM3 memory stores stroke level data (that's where ErgData comes in).

Thanks Dave, pretty much the conclusions I've come to. For logging sessions (and online interaction I think) looks like I could use RowPro with the USB connection, I will try a free trial of that.Slothful1 wrote: ↑May 23rd, 2020, 4:52 amI expect you'll need to use the USB lead to plug into a laptop running the Chrome browser, with the race software running inside Chrome. Re: British Rowing Virtual Champs
The old venue racing software collected stroke by stroke data from all the ergos in the race set-up. I've not looked at how the British Rowing Virtual Championship is going to do the virtual piece (because I can't join in even if I wanted to).

Re: British Rowing Virtual Champs
I'm entering this and am debating between the 2000m and 500m. I definitely do not want to do back to back 2ks, but don't mind doing 500s. Does anyone know if this website is upto date with entries?
https://regatta.time-team.nl/brvc/2020/ ... events.php
I'm in the 30-39 M LWT division, which currently does not have any entries, so it seems like I will be fine to enter the 2k

This is interesting, thanks for the link - I entered 10 days ago and got my confirmation, I'm 55-59 LM, but not listed on entries. I'll give it another week ago see if we get any further comms and then query it.boomingaway wrote: ↑June 12th, 2020, 8:27 amI'm entering this and am debating between the 2000m and 500m. Re: British Rowing Virtual Champs
The list of entrants is up on the website, with start times to follow once everyone is happy with the data.
Long-time forum members will be interested to note a certain individual in the 65-69 heavies looking to add a virtual DNS to his many real-life ones.

What are the odds that an erg located in a residence in, oh say, Ann Arbor MI rather than in a live venue could very well be occupied for this event by a putative ‘certain’ individual or . . . ? Eight quid on the plastic and an IP say little about which jock will be up.Slothful1 wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2020, 4:09 pmThe list of entrants is up on the website, with start times to follow once everyone is happy with the data.

Yes that is interesting Jack isn't it? The ultimate honor system. I am enlisting the help of my cousin Josh who you may have heard of.jackarabit wrote: ↑June 22nd, 2020, 11:26 pmWhat are the odds that an erg located in a residence in, oh say, Ann Arbor MI rather than in a live venue could very well be occupied for this event by a putative ‘certain’ individual or . . . ?
