"Hi Indoor Rowers,

Following on from the success of recent erg challenges, Rowing Australia, Rowing Canada, British Rowing and Rowing NZ have announced the launch of the ‘Row to the Moon’ Challenge.

This initiative invites indoor rowers worldwide to log their training metres with the shared goal of accumulating, as one singular community, 384.4 million metres – the distance from Earth to the Moon.

For further information on this exciting challenge and to submit your entry please click the below link;

https://rowingaustralia.com.au/2020/05/ ... derations/

Enjoy!"

We are not the first to have a goal to get to the moon - but I will say that we’ve done so four times, and are now well into the fifth shuttle. It’s a fun route!
We can wave to them out the window... :) Cheers, Baz

If we were to sign up, would our LUNA-TICS meters count for both "ships"? :wink:

I think at one point during the spring challenge one of my rows actually counted towards FOUR different events!

If you are thinking of entering this one, don't do it from an Android device, date of birth is a mandatory field that defaults to today and can only be changed one month at a time! Use a PC, then you can type in the year.

EDIT - Just checked out the leaderboard, and Australia is in first place thanks to a large number of participants. The US is a little under represented, in sixth place behind Peru, who have an enthusiastic team of 14.

Jantuut, you could make a valuable addition to the Dutch contribution, so far two team members have contributed a total of 10m.

Blissful unawareness disrupted - and now we know it as The Time Before. Not fond of looking at my fellow humans warily when at the grocery or on the nearby trails. Maybe you have changed up your personal schedules to better align with fewer human interactions by changing the time of day that you get out into the world, too. Be careful out there and be lucky.

Thanks for the info Andrew!
I am not planning to join if there are no other lunies interested,
but if we do not help them they do not have the "speed" to get to the moon in time IMHO ;).
I looked at the numbers and they are interesting, as some entries have decimals for total meters (the Concept2 erg showing less than 1m...) Maybe some folks enter km in lieu of meters (hence the small numbers), others use the "," and "." delimiters reversed...
NB: The US is now slightly ahead of Peru :D.

You don't hear a lot about Jesse the cat. He's almost 14, and has raised two generations of Goldens. There is no question that he is in charge. Right now, like in most of the US, there is a miller moth "invasion", "bloom", "hatching" or whatever we call this phenomenon. So far, I have seen the nesting robins in the tree right outside my window chunking a whole moth into their single, large robinette. Jesse, however, takes mothing to a whole new level. Maybe it is the flitting about that these huge moths do as they flutter next to the slider. All I know is that a Discovery Channel moment happened...complete with crunching noises. Yep, he ate the whole thing. And licked his chops. Even the dogs were impressed.
