Anyone familiar with this boat from Virginia Rowing? Looking for a review.
Thank you.
EDON TS515 SCULLING BOATS
Re: EDON TS515 SCULLING BOATS
I have two of them on order right now. They're on the boat from Australia as we speak, soon to arrive in the U.S., then on to Virginia Rowing, and hopefully to me (in the Midwest) in early June.
I did a ton of research on the TS515 and haven't found a single person who wasn't thrilled with it. They appear to be faster than they have any right to be, and are stable and rugged. It seems that most people eventually take the pontoons off just because it's a rite of passage, but many skilled and experienced scullers reattach them and don't feel that they actually slow the boat down.
I've had email correspondence with Steve Walker of Ahoy Boats in the U.K. because he is the primary internet authority on the TS515. He's congenial, knowledgeable, and willing to help even when you're not going to buy from him. However, Roger Slaymaker of Virginia Rowing also has significant expertise and is friendly, helpful, and responsive. Both Steve and Roger are champion scullers and know what they're talking about.
The final thing that put me at ease is that there's next-to-no availability of pre-owned TS515s. That says to me that people who buy them like them and keep them.

Enjoy the boat. They seem to be nice boats. There might not be many used ones in the US but a quick search will show you there are plenty in UK and Europe.
