Keith, Jo Andre, Rod - very kind of you to react, much appreciated - again all of you in a completely different league and mesmerising to see what you can do next.
I can only echo what Stu said here, there are way too many variables to be able to do a good comparison, so better to avoid doing it, and being happy with own progress :) there will (almost) always be someone better!

Like the popular picture on the web is saying: "no matter how good you are at something, there will always be a 5-year old Asian who is better at it" :)

Completed the 100k in 6:59.43 yesterday. It was my first, so it’s also a PB, and I was told to post it on this thread for the record B)

The first half felt harder than a 50k I did at the same pace a week ago, and the second half was even harder, as - on top of the fatigue building up - I had to speed up 5-10 watts to make sub 7 hours despite a couple of unplanned stops.

This is exactly where your immense effort should be Ilkka.

It is funny how some days you're just more prepared for the strain, and I think, no matter how hard you try, the subconscious thought of the full distance that you are attempting still scares you a bit and then heightens all of your senses / HR / perceptions.

As previously mentioned, you are capable of faster if the conditions were better, which is truly incredible thought. The overwhelming emotional thoughts when you're starting to struggle are a massive effort to control even when conditions are perfect.

Seriously impressive effort and result.

60' PB - 15.779m (+118m)

This was a very hard effort for me, plan was to stay >235W for the first 45' and then see how I feel, but I didn't feel 100% fit and slowed down to 230W. At the end I wanted to reach 15.800m but did a false calculation, started the final sprint too late.
Nevertheless I'm happy to have struggled through and get a new PB, on a very good day I think I can reach for 15.900, the magic 16k not that far away anymore :D

Yes mate!! Great result, and 118m is a big improvement.

16k won't be long now, especially if you time it for a better day. 60 mins at PB pace means there are no hiding places so you knowing early on that it wasn't to be today will have definitely took off circa 100m

There have been so many PBs set lately that it's difficult to keep up, and you just run out of superlatives after a while.

Amazing work everyone.

Special mentions to Lance, David and Ilkka. I can't imagine rowing for 100k at any pace.

Thank you mate!
With good preparation and on a perfect day it may work, but I fear the weather here in Austria won't let that happen, as I train outside June-August are bad months for long distance TTs. My plan is to start with 6 weeks of 2k-prep next week and then, after TT and a recovery week, another 6 weeks of strength and speed work to smash my sprint PBs, they are short enough to do them in heat, I guess that's easier in Norway :D

I don't use my HR strap for TTs as I recognized it's often distracting for me, and sometimes I slowed down because I thought HR was too high and then felt I could have been faster. I've tried covering the HR on the PM5 but it was still distracting :)

Yeah that's what I was thinking too, about 100m slower than on a good day. And with good preparation, on a perfect day and the extra motivation of hitting that milestone it's possible to get the 16k, I think I'll go for it in September when it's cool enough.

Do you have a plan when you'll crush your 10k PB? Your great 30' PB shows that you'll get sub36 on a normal day! :)
