Congrats Martin. Although its not great

Rating to low, to much left for the last 500.
Thanks Henry! :D
Yeah, it was pretty bad, body and mind not prepared for a 2k at all, too much UT2 and TTs lately, hardly any short intervals. With 6 weeks of sharpening (PP-like) I hope to get around 6:35, and also improve 1k and 5k.
Nothing lost, a hard strong pb is also a matter of how much you can get in the hurtbox, which is not easy. I myself always pulled 4/5 seconds faster in races over 2k. And those always where early in the morning. Only reason, digging in deeper.

Wow, 4-5'' is a lot! The short intervals are great to get used to the pain and strengthen confidence to hold the pace in the middle.

7907m in 30 minutes.

Have set my season's target at 8000m so am reasonably happy with this. Not doing as much rowing as last season. Am currently rowing 3 times a week doing 30 mins, 4x6 mins 4R and 3 x 4mins 3R. Also doing about 4 hours a week cycling and a couple of hours hill walking on the treadmill so CV fitness is fairly good.

Still enjoying the Concept 2 above all else.
Good job, 8k definitely within reach soon :)
Thanks. Would be very pleased to achieve it but just enjoying it at the moment.

You know when you're suited to long distances when you have a 50k PB to try and beat, and I think this is just over seven minutes faster than my PB.

I almost HDed at 43k, not least because it was my second fastest FM, but after a quick stretch, walk around, drink and a seat pad, I felt like a had a new lease of life. I even managed a sprint for the last 200m and got it down to 1:39 @ r32.

ERG MONSTER! ..I had you down for 2:01 average but you beat that as well!
Congratulations on a fantastic time.

It's a pity Concept2 don't have this as a ranked distance as no comparisons but pretty sure this would be right up near the top of the leader board for any age.

Thanks very much all.

It wasn't a great day for this and I quickly knew it was going to be a bit of a battle, but that was a good moment to reset my expectations and batten down the hatches.

It's only unbearable, if you let it feel unbearable (and you pick an unrealistic pace  ) and it looks a lot more controlled than it felt.

All of those ultra distances in 2017 are standing me in good stead as I'm feeling like the muscle & endurance memory is coming back really quickly.
