Re: Forum Flyers
I might've messed up on the 2K for the Spring Series. I didn't realize until I was done, but I had the PM5 set for some kind of 2K interval row instead of just 2K! But the time is for just 2000m in my logbook, and I only did the one, so maybe it can count if needed?

It's not fast, didn't try for that, it has been a bad week for nerve pain after the shopping runs, wasn't sure if I'd be able at all. Plan was to row short 5 minute bits daily, but that wasn't happening. Nor my step goal for my Fitbit.
I gave the CTC another try, better, went from 190 to 197m. Don't know if it helped my boat any tho. That fast start hurt! So will have to wait and see if there are repercussions. If not, maybe can try again before end of the month.

Re: Forum Flyers
Thanks for the 2km, Cynthia. I wasn't expecting that you'd be able to fit one in, so happy to see that you've done it.
Unfortunately the Spring Series is pretty automated from the logbook side, and they seem to want standardised, verified entries. It's not showing up on the team page, and that's probably because you're not able to rank that interval piece (which is part of the Spring Series process).
No problem though, because there seem to be quite a few people who aren't coming back from the earlier rounds, and so boat 3 doesn't look like it will happen. The good news though is that you at least have a benchmark in your own log, and can take another run at it later in the season when you're ready.

Re: Forum Flyers
had another go at the 1minute and managed to add 10 meters.
(Kathleen added a meter to hers and may have a go later in the month as well)
1 min = 334m @1:29.8

I was happy with that although my erg buddy Peter Beare spoiled the party a bit by doing a 348 today as part of the Australian challenge. He has just turned 69 which means of course that he is very strong and we are usually neck and neck - raced about 30 times I guess.

Re: Introduction
Hi Mike. Congrats on that FM. You never forget your first. I remember mine so well that a second isn’t likely. Come 20 June, the C2 Solstice Challenge is a good occasion to get in a half marathon altho the easiest option for the attaboy certificate is 21k meters total from multiple sessions during the day. You also might enjoy joining us in the Concept 2 Cross-Team Challenges—one per month year round. Take a look: www.c2ctc.comZuman wrote: ↑May 9th, 2020, 4:06 pmHello, all.
My name's Mike and this is my first post as a Forum Flyer.
I started indoor rowing last July, and I did just over 1.5 million meters in the remaining ten months of my first year. I'm 67 and I retired in January.
I just completed my first-ever full marathon today. It wasn't exactly "Flyer" time, as I only averaged 2:51 for my splits, finishing in just under 4 hours.
Nevertheless, I'm still alive and I'm looking forward to joining you on some team challenges in the future!

Re: Forum Flyers
Good extra stretch there, Lindsay. I have had favourable responses from the 3 ladies at home about putting in an entry, so now I just need to get them onto the machine and actually get it done. So we should be good for at least 5 boats this month, with maybe another one or two possible.lindsayh wrote: ↑May 10th, 2020, 6:48 amhad another go at the 1minute and managed to add 10 meters.

Does anyone know who Jon Entriken is? He's not attached to our C2 team or affiliation, and given his welcome performance in the C2CTC, he could be handy to get involved in the other challenges.

Re: Forum Flyers
Dave I posted this on Saturday - Jon is an Aussie! I suspect that he will be OK to do more whilst there is no rowing OTW. Steve will handle I suspect. If he is comfortable then we can expand his involvement. We are also working on another guy from Nth Queensland who is a long time Masters OTW rower - if you see a Ray appear then that his him.
I have also convinced Peter Beare from Adelaide to join us - long time erg buddy just turned 69 and posted his 1 minute tonite (348m). He will be doing the monthly challenges into the future I suspect.BTW we are currently just a "bees dick" (to coin a phrase) from number one! Haven't seen that for a while.
My Rowing Australia friend Kathleen is the 294 ((and a lwt) and has the sight of 300m in her eyes so she may go again.
The new lwt superstar (351m) is also an Aussie - young guy who is an OTW buddy of Steve Ockerby in Townsville in North Queensland.
On the 25th April he did the "Anzac Day" challenge 18x 2504m/9'R @1:57 so Steve thought he might have a good minute in him too.
Steve is isolated away from the erg so may have trouble to get one done though.

Phil Clapp top of the heap on the MAD Minute CTC. No surprise there! Only 6m off his 1000W+ WR run. TCB?—oh yes.

We are shaping up for a spot in the top 40 of the spring VIII's challenge.. punching slightly above our weight in the 2k just as we did in the 30m.
I've had a very good time putting in the challenge efforts for this with you all these past few weeks.
Was afraid an empty time was ahead but by a stroke of luck I can climb into a single scull for the first time in yonks this friday as measures are being relaxed slowly here. Now the challenge is to try to retain and improve on this quarantine-bred fitness if possible.

Re: Forum Flyers
We ended up in a very good 37th for Boat 1 and 99th for Boat 2 out of 205 entries, so well done to everyone for the great contributions, and keeping the Forum Flyers flag flying. Both boats improved on their round 1 positions of 46th and 114th, which is also great.ivan141 wrote: ↑May 11th, 2020, 3:41 pmWe are shaping up for a spot in the top 40 of the spring VIII's challenge.. punching slightly above our weight in the 2k just as we did in the 30m.

The team focus switches back to the CTC now, until the Fall Team Challenge later in the year, but there's also the FMMC that is individual (with age, weight, gender adjustment) but does have some team rankings. This runs throughout the year, so if you feel like a half marathon this month, that's the place to enter it. The Indoor Rowers League hasn't been too well supported by us in recent seasons, but could be worth a look in September if / when it starts up again.
I did a 40km BikeErg ranking piece last night, toasting my 2018 PB by 20%+. I can't remember how hard I went last time, but it was probably a fair reflection of gains since that. Wasn't a completely flat out time trial last night, but just aiming to get through it, and tick off another Zwift route while I was doing it.

Boat 4 floats, managed to get Carol out of isolation to row in the garage, not a bad 259, i think she knows she can go a bit faster with all things girdered
