I'm about to have another go. Putting it out there because the support I get from being part of this team is immense, and the thought of having to come back and say I bailed may well be enough to keep me going when the going gets tough.
Well, you all did it and got me across the line in 6:59.4  ! Well done!

Joking aside, without the support and motivation that comes from being part of this team, I would not have been able to achieve what has been a goal for the last twenty years, so thank you.
Well done! Proud to be on the team with you.

Finally got on the boards with a half marathon ski. Hoping to complete another couple or few challenges in the time remaining. Having or making the time has been my biggest challenge lately.

Hell of an effort Shabana. Nice work. I just finished my first attempt, and I don't think I could try again until next year. Zach, you killed it too...you demolished your PR.

I missed my goal by .3 seconds, but there will always be another day. I am spent, but I think I left some time on the table if I would have pushed harder earlier. Oh well.

Great work everyone. Couldn't be prouder to be part of such a supportive team. And I love see everyone posting PR after PR. Especially all you strong ladies that are consistently making multiple attempts at the challenges. CONGRATS TO ALL THE LUNA-TICS!

A miss by 0.3 seconds is a win if you squint, congrats! What did you end up doing it in?

Congratulations, Eric! Sounds like it was a PR, even if it wasn't the goal you'd set! You guys keep this sub 7 stuff up and we're going to have a whole fleet! Well done!

Burnout

Post by Jodi » May 10th, 2020, 9:33 am

I find myself in a bit of a slump. I think it's burnout.
During the winter months and the Covid-19 seclusion I have been rowing at least 5 days a week, whereas during the Spring and Summer months I'm usually able to mix it up with some walking in the city and yoga classes. I would usually get over 12,000 steps a day, but nowhere near that during these last few months. I trained for and got a couple of half-marathons in, then the different challenges and lately this sprint series.
This week I've looked at my rowing machine and just didn't have the heart or desire to interact with it. I can feel it's dismay as I walk past it numerous times each day, and my dismay as I feel the pounds creeping onto my 5'2" frame (probably all in my head ). I think I need to take a short break from rowing. And even though there's some polar weather front blowing through (it snowed here yesterday for the first time on this day since the 1970's!) I am going to bundle up and get a nice long walk in. I'll still check back with the forum until this feeling passes and I can enjoy rowing again. I think I just need to mix it up a bit. I did a 30 minute online aerobics class two days ago and I'm still sore from it, so that just confirms the need to cross-train. The only thing missing would be you guys. Wish I could take you with me on a walk, or aerobics class. :) The interaction with all of you during these challenges has been so motivating and the camaraderie makes it feel like we're all in this together, wherever on the globe we might actually be. I'll keep an eye on the forum though. I don't think it will be long before I'm back on my rowing machine, but for now, I'm going for a long walk.

Congratulations to Doug, Brett and Gary (for #5) on completing half marathons in the Challenge! Well done!!

It's true. There are many types of flames other than firing the afterburners! Rowing, and erging, is addictive. And sometimes you do have to step away, slow it down, change it up, get a view that doesn't include the PM monitor screen. Thanks for your contributions to the Spring Series Challenge, Jodi - you added a lot of fun commentary and infused us with some hard pulling spirit! Hope your world rebalances soonest. It's good to make erging fit YOUR plan for exercise - for all that rowing works many muscles, there are gym sessions for flexibility, etc., that we all need to make every bit of us work better. Good to recognize same. I know I need to see and be outside and feel that I am part of the cosmos.
