An impromptu 5k which ended up as a PB!
Just kept the projected wavering at between 19:10 and previous time of 19:15 then just about managed a smallish sprint at the end as I couldn't quite remember what my PB was and suddenly thought maybe it was 19:10 as was over a year ago

Haven't been doing much on the erg recently and my long distance training has fallen off a cliff for various reasons. This wasn't the PB I was hoping for in May but I'll take it

One of those "guaranteed PB" days. First time doing anything over 500m, just feeling it out. Could rate faster, but wanted to keep it capped low and see how that went.

Started off just under 2:00, but after a few minutes of that HR was still under 130bpm so I kicked it down a few splits. Settled into a comfortable rhythm until 2k, where I tried to pull a little harder. Was going to go for a vicious finish the last 1k, as my HR was still only around 87% of max at that point....but alas my muscles in back/shoulder/hips were tiring from the lower rate and I could only drop the split to like 1:51-1:52 instead of like....low 1:40s.

Think there is tons of improvement here, especially no rate limited, given that I only averaged about 80% of HRmax for the piece. When I was on 1:55 toward the end felt like a pace I could hold (aerobically anyway) for an hour or so.

You know that feeling when you just know you are in strong shape. Just did a 60 minute test to establish a baseline for my HM next week. Scored 15771 meters, which is a pace of 1:54.1. Never done a 60 min test before but my 10k PB was 38:14 which is a 1:54.7 pace.

So, new PB on the 60 min and new PB on the 10k (crossed the 10k mark at 38:09).

Your 500 is relative your best pb though. Think 16k is doable soon, not that far off splitwise.

Thanks guys - was expecting to die off after 3.5-4k but didn't!
Sub 19 got to be a target now, along with 7.20 on the 2k. I think the 2k target going to be the harder one.
Cutting a bit off my Marathon also the aim at some point, but now I know I am not going to get it done in during the challenge window - which is a bit annoying as tried my best to get back on track for start of May - going to push this out until know am ready and have a good shot at it, and when I have the time and energy to put in the long training sessions again.

Congrats that's a big score - pity you cant rank the 10k though.
It would be nice to set up splits based on meters rather than time when doing timed pieces so you get an accurate split on whole 1000m.
