Wow, some really strong efforts on the CTC for the 1 minute. Looks like I won't be able to make the first boat  . Will give it a try however!
I don't know if Ewen (macroth) will also participate (he must be good for about 390m if I remember right) and there may be some others who haven't participated in recent CTCs, so I'm also not sure if I reach boat 1, hopefully I get a new PB and can match Dirk :)
I am aiming for about 360-365m. Todd is my marker :-)

How is it with the Spring series deadline? It says this round is til May 3rd, but entry deadline is May 5th. So Will it be too late to do the 4 min tomorrow?

I would say the attempt must be done till May 3rd and must be synced in the online logbook (and verified) till May 5th.

I’m still focusing on UT2 high volume low intensity training. Most of my sessions are 4 x 2500m, 90s rest intervals. Been doing five per week so hopefully I’ll see an improvement on my 2k time next week.

So I did both my 4 minute row and CTC today. On the theory that if things go way south, there's something for y'all.
Good idea Cynthia - I did something similar, but doubt I'll go back again for more torture :).

Thanks for the contribution. We're close to floating that 3rd Spring Series boat, but it's probably optimistic to hope that there are 2 unlogged entries coming in today or tomorrow.

Current list of entries (and thanks to Wyatt, I'm bumped down to 3rd boat - testing my ethics here on whether I should abuse captain's power and leave myself in the 2nd boat :))...

Kenni's 372m is mighty strong - well done
Thanks ! :)

Did some 45s/3.45s intervals yesterday and felt good, so decided to take a go at the 1 min today. Never done it before, but kept my pace pretty consistent.

NIce strong entry, Kenni. We might come close to capturing the past glories of a top 3 finish.

Looking forward to seeing the extra entry in the Spring Series. Let's hope we don't have anyone shirking from the dreaded pain of the 2km, and we get boat 3 off the dock!

Did the CTC today - 383m

I felt pretty good, but I haven't fixed the erg to the floor as I normally do, stupid me. Around 40'' the front slipped of the terrace into the grass, a drop of about 10cm (4''), but enough I almost felt off the erg and totally lost rhythm (and pace). Without this I think I would have hit my PB from march, I'll give it a second try for sure, maybe I can get Dirk :)

Very nice effort Martin. Something like that will surelly have cost you a second at least! Have a another go and secure your place on the first boat. Congrats!

I'll do my 1 minute race later in the month. First i'll focus on the 2k this week and i'll do the half marathon for the C2 and FMMC challenge next week. Then the Row Series 7 will also start so I have to see what programming they will have.

I'm curious what time you'll get at the 2k, a massive improvement for sure. I'll do it this weekend, today was my last hard workout (the 1' + 4x500/1'R around 2k pace to get the right feeling :) ).
360-65m sounds good, I won't be surprised if you're a bit faster as the 500m were so strong, good luck!

What time will you be aiming for on the 2k?
I am aiming for the sub 6:50 mark. So a 1:42.5 split. That is about 3 splits slower then my 4 minute effort. If you would do the same you'd be aiming for sub 6:40 I think?

As my focus is on aerobic base training atm I would be happy with a new PB, on a good day maybe sub 6:40. In the next weeks I'll start with 4-6 weeks of sharpening for a proper 2k effort, hopefully I'll get sub 6:35.

Not only that Cynthia but we have boat floated and in third place right now.
(And Dirk is at the top just like the old days)
For those who are new Dirk Moller is a long time Flyer and one of the fastest 40/50+ guys ever - hugely strong Norwegian based German
I see and nice work, Dirk!

If I can, will try and see if I can do better on my 1 minute CTC sprint later in the month. The knee pain I got Saturday *was* nerve pain. I wasn't sure at the time, because I also had some kneecap tracking issues 2017/2018 mostly resolved. Anyway, could only row slow yesterday, because I could feel it down my left leg and knee again. Don't know if I'll row today, unless I keep it very short.

Should be able to do a 2K for spring series, that's what I was testing yesterday, see if I could go long enough if I took it slow and I could.

Martin, what a brutal minute! Good going, I can barely hit sub 1:20 at full yam with my ~100kg.

Just finished off 2 sets of 10x1min on/1min off with 30-32-34-36-32 rate pyramids.. was looking to see if Cam Buchan's 30x1/1 was anywhere near feasible for a mere mortal like me but after the first 10 decided a short active break was in order and then followed up with a second set to avoid getting too soft.

Rate acclimatization was the goal, although it is still beyond me how to dose my power at these rates. I was well aware that +/- 2k split was a good target if I wanted to last past 20 intervals, but I just found it impossible to hit that rate without going at least 5 splits under 2k pace. Until exhaustion hits home about 8 minutes into a set that is. Above 34spm my rowing form begins to approximate trunk/arms special olympics rowing with very little legs left in the equation. Did find it easier to find the rate during the second set but I don't think I will attempt to go much higher than 30 for my 2k just yet.

Thanks Ivan, the 1' is my favorite sprint distance, hopefully I can get a new PB this month. Just saw that Dirk did a second one with 390m, now I won't match him I fear :)
Rate work is important, I have problems with right pacing at high ratings too (as long as it's not sprinting). R30 sounds like a good plan for 2k, I'll do about the same. Good luck for your 2k!
