Thought I might aswell kick of the season with a TT and a crack at 1km. Not a distance I've raced much and it's fair to say I didn't go into it feeling that great (tired and fed up of home working) but it was low hanging fruit so.... 🚨 boom!! 🚨 B)

Image

Tried to do some easy metres after as a cool down but canned that after 15'....nothing left for today.

Did another video analysis earlier and noted my technique still sucks ass so must try harder to sort out initiating with the legs rather than swinging the body back. Bad habits 😕

Congrats on the PB Alex!
Looking at your 2k there should be a good bit more possible

4' TT for the challenge, 1.236m, it was far away from optimal, but not too bad to post it here :)

My plan was 390W/380/380/4XX and an overal of at least 390W (1:36.5).
Legs felt a bit tired and after the first minute I lost courage and slowed down a bit. Looking back I'm sure I can stand 380W for min 2+3 and can be at least 0.5'' faster, maybe even 1'' on a good day.

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
4:00.0 1,236m 1:37.0 382 1616 32 163
1:00.0 311m 1:36.4 390 1641 31 153

4:00.0 318m 1:34.3 417 1734 39 169
Looks good Martin and you finished strong!

Well, I have always said if it's your first time its a PB. Did my first ever FM today and I am pretty stoked. I have also said I have never done a workout with a pace over 2:00 so secretly I had this as a goal. First goal was to finish but wanted to really test myself and......

FM at 2:47:46.6.....a 1:59.2 pace!!!!

It was the best test of my physical and mental capacities I have had including all my CF stuff. Was so different than a shorter test. I wanted to HD a few times but followed my plan and had a cushion and knew I just needed to hang on. Towards the end I resisted the temptation to go faster as I was so set on making sure
I didn't freeze up until last 100m where I pulled n the 1:40s. Could write paragraphs about it but still trying to recover. Lots of blisters and behind in pain but worth it.

Maybe I'm not a sprinter

Come get it Stu!

Hahahahahahahaha. I'm really pleased for you mate, and I knew you were on for a very good time when I saw your 30k but this is superb, especially for someone who says that they don't do long distance.

I was wondering earlier on today whether to really maximise my FM or keep something back for the 2k next week, now my decision has been made for me.

Soak up the praise as you deserve it all.

Thanks Stu, it's really all your fault I ever tried this. :) I actually went thru the 30K close to what I did 3 weeks ago, then it was about hanging on and being conservative. Even with my cushion I really had to fight to not HD. Got hit with a couple waves of massive fatigue but when I got thru them I was OK. I even put the handle on my lap once for a second but then took a few super relaxed strokes and got on with it. Knew I was going to finish and hit my goal at 5K to go but was scared to do anything dumb and remained steady and just started to think about it almost being over.
