Top job Alex - that's a very quick time. Your last 2k would have been a 2k PB for me!
Based on your signature time for 60' and this 10k, if you wanted to have another go at the hour I reckon 15200 should be on at least B)
PS. love the avatar
Thanks Dino 👍

I have the 60' TT down for next week in my own plan. But I do still have the 30' TT for the row series next week so we'll see. One or other will happen.

I might have to bail on the Row Battles Ergzone series as it's getting too much what withy own planned sessions too.

I knew if I didn't check this for a few days there would be another Martin PB! Great work - looks painful but joyous in the end.

And great work too Alex on the 10k PB.

I'm going to have to up my game and go for at least one new PB before end of this season. I'm thinking maybe 2k and 5k but we'll see.
Thanks Alasdair :D Yeah, it was hard, but worth the effort :)
Your recent 500m intervals and fast 1600m show that you'll beat your 2k PB! Good luck!
Thanks Martin - if you could just slow down a bit, that would be great!

Nah, actually having you racing far off into the distance is still good motivation for me and the only think holding me back from a new PB on 2k right now I think is the mental side so I'll just give it a go, maybe this week. Now that I'm back in reasonable shape I think I need to overcome the fear and just do it.

Yep, the longer you leave it the worse it is. Time to take your medicine

Don't think of it as a PB attempt, just do it with no pressure and see how you go. That way it will be a target to aim for or a PB, and you hopefully won't let the inner chimp win when it starts to bite

I definitely have to think of it as PB attempt, and I don't mind if I fail but you're right, I'll just go for it soon. Once I get past my 'what have I got myself into' point in the 2k I know I'll be fine and actually I think I've always been able to dig deep with training but rowing is a slightly different beast as I have learned!

But anyway, I just need to stick to my plan and hold 1:42.5 until about 400 to go and then see if I have much left in the tank. Plus obviously fight the idiotic early 'this seems okay' vibes.

Far off is hyperbolic I would say, atm I'm in front but only about 2sec pace for most distances. Illness cost you a lot this season, some good months of training will boost your PBs!
I know this fear, and the longer you wait the harder it is. As Stu said, don't set yourself under too much preassure. Good luck! :)

10k PB - 37:05,2 - -17''

I almost decided to take a rest day today but thought I need some preparation for the 30' challenge next week. The plan was to go sub 37:15, but it was easier than expected, now I'm a bit dissappointed that I didn't go a bit faster for the first 8k and get sub37. Nevertheless I'm happy with a new PB and some extra confidence for the coming 30'. On a good day I should get >8150, hopefully close to 8200.

Not a bad result for a rest day!

Blistering last 1k and nice to see that sub-37 is possible next time.

This is a great example of why you are better than you realise. You think longer distances are a real struggle for you, but in reality your bikeerg sessions and other UT2 sessions are paying off now. Sub 37 is within your capabilities and you should try and get it ASAP.

Well done on this though mate. 10 secs increase isn't easy

Thank you very much fellas! Next time I'll get the sub37 milestone :D

@ Stu:
Yeah the UT2 work helps a lot, and the bikeerg prevents me from a tightened back and forearms. I'll always be a better sprinter, but my long stuff confidence is getting better and better :D Next week I'll go for a new 30' PB but I'll give it another go soon! And it was 17 secs faster
Have you done the 500m?

@ Henry:
Yeah that's right, the long and slow stuff helped my long distance work a lot, and the sprint stuff never was a problem, but 2k and 5k is too long for my sprinting skills and the slow stuff makes me too soft at these distances. In may I'll do a 4-week prep according to PP to make me fit for a good 2k effort, and hopefully a strong 5k shortly after. Then it's time for a 6 week strength and sprint focus to get sub1:20. At least that's the plan right now :)

Haha, sorry mate, and to be fair 17 seconds is a lot more impressive.

No, I have had to avoid the 500 as my back is slightly aggravated and there isn't many worse ideas than trying to thrash my way through a 500m PB. Hopefully will be manageable tomorrow but I need to take it easier for a few days
