The overlapping Challenges are giving us a meter boost for the WEC ! Good consistent work by the Lunies are keeping us at spot 7 on the WEC leaderboard!

Image Still Foolish??! Of course we are!

Image MERCURY, APOLLO, EAGLE and DISCOVERY !! Lunies rock!!

DISCOVERY is a mixed boat - guys and gals! Interesting that so far the EAGLE is the only women's boat.

FWIW, I just went back to the page to look at the standings, and the challenges have reverted back to what they were previously.
Whew!!

Something Different

Post by Kona2 » April 10th, 2020, 10:57 am

SkyHi News, a local Grand County newspaper, is showing off some of the really creative work of mountain town residents...front porch views of their families during the stay at home time of Covid-19. I particularly liked this one of the Birch family!

The EAGLE has landed! And, so have MERCURY, APOLLO and DISCOVERY. All who completed the 6K distance for the Lunies are in a boat.
We're coming up on the 50th anniversary of Aquarius being used as a lifeboat for Odyssey. Their journey was 400,171Km out and back on their circumlunar trajectory. Launch at 19:13UTC (2:13pm EDT), sucessful landing at 18:07UTC (1:07pm EDT) on 17th.

Apollo 13 - if ever there was a good example of how to lead in a crisis - bringing in all the equipment available to the astronauts, dumping it on the table, and telling the engineers to figure it out...loved it!

Yay and woohoo!!! The EAGLE has landed and is #1 in its class.

Thanks, K2, for everything you've done to get our four boats launched, and for all that you do for our team year round.

Go Lunies!!!

And thanks to all the behind the scenes work of Norma, cheering everyone on...and cajoling some extra efforts out of folks! Most excellent!

For those who are still using a PM2 and want to participate in the Spring VIII challenge: it is possible. I have done it.
While the verification code mechanism may be more reliable, allowance is made for those who still have a PM2. Take a photo of your PM2 showing the time and distance. Enter the row in your logbook, and rank it - the ability to verify PM2 results is limited to recently ranked pieces. Go to the Contact page (https://log.concept2.com/contact). Click on "Choose Topic", and select "Verify a Piece." You will be prompted to select which of your recently ranked workouts you want to verify. You will also be prompted to "Choose verification method." I chose "Monitor screenshot" as my verification method, and was then asked to attach the monitor screenshot image.

I guess this verification method is still somewhat "on your honor" with regard to exactly when was this row completed, but not really for those who are regularly posting workouts on an almost daily basis.

P.S. I am still considering the PM5 upgrade. Initially, I was reluctant because I know my best times are well behind me, and it is hard not to be at least a little disappointed with what is now the best I can do, or the best I can do that day. But during this Spring VIII challenge, I found that I really enjoyed pushing for a time (as many other team members posted).
Lots of fun, and Go Lunies!!!

EAGLE Rowers

To the gals in the EAGLE boat.....if you can collectively take 32 seconds off the total time.....you can be first again.

Thanks Jan!
And congratulations to all those who have rowed millions during the season!!!
It took me more than 10 years to achieve the 10M goal. I got there in July, but then fell of the boat for various reasons...
I lost a good number of meters I rowed at the office gym before buying my own rower... never recorded those on the official logbook as I did not think I was likely to achieve 1M, forget 10M.... But joining the LUNA-TICS, the team spirit and encouragement definitely helped! :)
Thank you!

Happy rowing and stay safe!

Andrea

P.S. I will try one more 6k row tomorrow to see if I can shave a few seconds. Not sure, but no matter of the overall result, I am very proud to be part of a team where we were able to "launch" 4 boats including an all gals one and a mixed one! Go LUNA-TICS!

Wow! That's significant! Way to go, Carol ! It's hard to shave even a few seconds off a distance - and to get that many seconds off....hooyah!

We are seeing that ALL teams are making a second or third swipe at the Challenge distance for this week. I am getting a good idea of how this Challenge has to be strategized...as I am sure that all of you are as well.
