I won’t be trying to improve my 6k. Been a long time since I’ve pushed that hard rowing. Reminded me of the ski event from February. Good change of pace. I can’t push myself that hard outside a competition

I saw I was in a boat and decided to get a jump on it, not realizing it didn’t start until today :? So on Friday, I bested my PB by about a minute! Granted, I’d only tested it once before. But I beat my self-set goal of being in the top 75% of my age/weight range.
Started rowing 4/22/19.
PBs: 1min - 314m, 500m - 1:40.0, 1,000m - 3:45.3, 4min - 1,082m, 2,000m - 7:41.0, 5.000m - 21:18.2, 6,000m - 25:41.6, 30min - 7,010m, 10k - 44:40.5, 60min - 13,112m

Well, that as the first timed-row I have done in 10+ years. And now I remember why  But the good? news is; I only lose about a minute/6K every four years. :D But that means I was still slow 12 years ago... I will definitely be trying to better my time this week, so don't do anything that can't be updated (assuming progress  ).
On another subject: From the C2 website https://www.concept2.com/service/monito ... ation-code
"Verification codes are used primarily for Concept2 world and national records. They are not needed or required to participate in the Concept2 Online Logbook, Rankings, or challenges". Obviously, that is changing. I hate to see another "honor system" go down, but that's the Commons we inhabit. That said, I really appreciate all that C2 does to make our community possible. I bought my erg 18 or 19 years ago, and since then I have bought a PM5, a new handle, and a set of seat rollers. A loyal, but not lucrative, customer. Meanwhile, I have sucked up untold server time, on both the logbook and the Forum, as well as getting lots of certificates, and some great swag. I just hope they are selling a lot of oars! So if verification allows C2 to offer more and better challenges, especially under present circumstances, great! And thanks (I think) for getting me all lactic.
Slow and Steady is my pace, so it seems,
Slow and Steady wins the race, in my dreams.

We have 8 people who have completed the distance required - so I could move one boat out into the virtual waters. I don't have to send the boat out until the last minute - and I think we will want the fastest times in similar boats to be competitive. Also, those who wish to see if they can better their personal time in the next few days may give it a go. Once I add an individual to a boat and submit it, that person has to stay there until the next round.

Here's the list of those who have completed a ranked 6K - and it is AMAZING!

Norma
Rebecca
Ted
Joerg
Jantuut
Baz
Andrew
Brett

The Spring Series write up disappeared from the Challenge page that everyone can see. I am not sure if they are working on the write up, but it is essentially the same Spring Series page that we all saw initially.
Jan, thanks so much for organizing this!
Just finished my timed 6k... :)
I did not do timed long distances for a while, and forgot that palms begin to sweat. I have to find my old grips...
I will try to improve, but might be a bit sore for the next days ;)

Happy rowing!
Andrea

Well done everyone for doing a 6k. I can't do one at the moment as my back isn't as strong as I'd liked due to working from home not in my usual ergo chair at work!!! Hopefully if they do more with shorter distances I might be able to do a time - my current 6k would sink the boat!!!

Will tomorrow be too late to put in a 6k for the Spring Challenge?

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 4.06.2020

We're hanging in there at spot 7 on the Leaderboard for the World Erg Challenge! Thanks, Lunie Challenge Team !!

Image They call it the Streak...

Day 7 of Foolishness dawns...and it's going to start getting a little bit harder to get those meters done ... there's a step shift in time needed to complete the requisite distances. Fear not, fellow foolishness pursuers! We've got this!

Image

]Houston....it appears that there is a problem[/color]! As of last night and this AM, it appears that ANY 6K ranked in the 2020 season for teammates is being tagged as a Spring Series result instead of only results in the date range for the Spring Series. We'll get this one figured out. For now, it appears (maybe) that we have results in the correct date range for:

Norma
Carol
Andrea
Ted
Joerg
Jantuut
Baz
Brett
David A

So. We'll do our best to take another "star sighting" to see where we are in the Concept2 Universe - astrogators like to know these things. :D

And now, back to our regularly scheduled program!

I hope that everybody who is in assigned by Jan (aka K2/Kona2) to a boat will be able to do the tasks and submit the rankings, no matter the times.
I find the camaraderie on the team to be the most important and energizing aspect, as we all just compete with ourselves be that meters or times. Of course it helps seeing the LUNA-TICS boat(s) moving :).
Any meter we row is for our own good health (hence making sure that we do not over do it and listen to our body when we need to slow down or stop is quite important).
I remember that I joined the LUNA-TICS team in 2008 for the January Virtual Challenge as I was intrigued by the target to row together the distance to the moon and back. Details are on the first page of 1720(!) of the Forum. We did that and started again! Just checked the Forum and found out that together we reached the moon the fourth time on March 23, 2019 (viewtopic.php?f=29&t=7369&p=468560&hili ... on#p468508).
So we are on our way back, to start again...
In the process I managed to reach my own 10M, which I am happy for even if it took more that 10 years... I "fell off the boat" a few times for various reasons (health, travel, family) but always returned and found the LUNA-TICS to be welcoming and energizing.
Thanks to Jan and all the others who contribute writing and/or meters for keeping this going!
Happy rowing and stay healthy!
Andrea

THANK YOU! I have not had such a hard and fulfilling workout in years. My 6k was brutal, but so satisfying. So much fun to have a teammates, even if they are virtual. I've only been rowing for a year, so I don't have crewing memories like a lot of you, but this makes it much easier to up the intensity. Good luck to all of you who haven't done your 6k yet, and great job to all of those who have.

Ok - turns out that I have to trust the process. Everything is working as it should be - none of the workouts have to be ranked. A lot of teammates have completed workouts of 6K today and yesterday! We have 22 who are eligible for boats. I had to empty the boats, and rename them in order to populate them. Otherwise, I had two in one boat, three in another, etc., and that wasn't adding up to a full boat. We have to have 8 rowers to fill the boat. So. I need at least two more. There are ten women rowers, and 12 guys. I can have one guys boat and one gals boat and one mixed boat, currently. We have a few days to get this completed. I was making this far too complicated !

Need two more 6 K results !!
