Hi guys,

I just joined the team. I thought it would be fun to participate in some COVID-19 challenges :-)

Can anyone recommend what would be the recommended privacy settings for your log so the metres get registered?

I was looking for some info but could not find any.

Ta...
So if on your C2 log book profile, if you go to affiliation there is a drop down menu and you select Forum Flyers.

Your m's from then will go to the yearly team total and you can chase down the people around you.

Are you entering the C2 Cross team Challenege C2CTC??

Spring VIII's, something C2 came up with for those missing out on their season of competition.

It's a different distance every week, and the team captains get to piece together 8's from the rowers on their team that posted a verified time for that weeks distance. Those boats are then in competition with others based on classification.. We would certainly be in the open category..

CTC All time wonderment update (to March 2020)

Statto here

Sorry for the delay but non un-noticed should it go, well come to the 100 club, Frank, THe Boss (David Moores), Todd (and what a grand return) and Lindsay. It take commitment and a measure of insanity to complete 100 CTC's.

Obvs, i'm not a professional, any problem with the figures and I will happilly change for an agreed fee
Chris, on a hunch I checked to see if we have all our “Martins.” I think our recent addition, Martin Stoeger, who just happens to have a real hot hand at CTC in recent months should be making the P-list. Also has fantastic 100meter power. Think his handle on this forum is Martin SH4321. There may be others as The Skipper is getting more return on the tireless recruiting since the CoVi restrictions.

That said, how are we all?, I'm lucky enough to be working, from home mostly so looking forward to a bit of training on the rower.

Mad times we live in, hope you are all staying safe, if you cant get tot he rower, don't worry, there are more important things in life. get one the tube and get some of those work outs in.

My main advice, eat to be flatulent and social distancing is not a problem, even the kids stay away :)
:D :D :D :D :D :D

Funny! I guess that means I should eat more oatmeal....

3 new cases in our county. Just saw some news saying this thing can also damage the heart with a serious case. Very scary!

Got out the old TRX today, more assisted squats, 2 sets of 8. Only managed 2 sets of 5 first go a week ago, so improvement! And I wasn't using much assist, it's just comforting to have it available.

Anyway, another 12 minutes today and a few more meters than last time (1598m). I'll take that!

Got out in the sun a bit to walk about the yard, finally a day that wasn't too cold or too windy! Felt great! One good thing about living on a steep hill, there's just about nothing for foot traffic.

Yeah, I'm Martin Stoeger, I think I started one year ago to do the CTCs and did all of them if I remember right, so did 12 and the list starts at 13. Next time I should be on the list :D

I feel like I've walked into a clubhouse the day after a big night, with all the evidence of a good time lying around :). Haven't seen so many new posts in a day for a while. Something to be said for being confined to the house!

Thanks for the update, Chris, and well done to the other new centurions. I think it's an impressive competition that can keep the variety up, and people coming back for years on end.

I've decided on the 6000m tonight, and will do the CTC over Easter. So far no-one has given me a chance to wield my selection powers, but I'm expecting more activity on the weekend.

Running late for work. Fortunately first meeting is this afternoon, so no-one will know. :)

The Baker’s dozen. Ineffable magic of EI 🤔. Like the downsideup race number? But you don’t stick if you just sit on the 12+1 bubble! The prestigious Cross Team Challenge All Time Participant List is our highest honour. Something to row about and crow about.

Just finished off the 6k for the VIII's challenge..sonofadiddly that was no fun at all.
My 2017 and previous PB was about a 1:54.5 split, and since I already accidentally PB'd on my 5k last november I thought it would
be prudent to shoot for a 1:54 average and flat pace the whole shebang and see how she goes. [when side pains hit at 2300 to go].
The biggest problem on pieces this long is the sheer amount of time the mind has to contemplate putting the handle down.
Managed to squeeze out a 22:42 at a 1:53.5 average split by employing something of a finishing sprint. I'm sure I should be physically
capable of a better time but a PB is win any day of the week.

All this hard work has lead to a paltry 10k day for the WEC, so tomorrow will be long & slow to recover a bit and keep the jackarabbits at bay :D

@Our fearless captain: Is there any way we can get to see the boatings for our team? I can see what boat im assigned to but it would be cool to see what y'all erg beasts are pulling.

11” off your previous best no wonder you felt it! Choosing the hot side of the possible and sustaining it is never fun. And “something of a sprint” says emptied the tank. Chapeau :!:

Great effort, Ivan! I hear you about the no man's land of fighting the handle down demons for the longer than 2km pieces. Have been there many times.

Also well done to Chris, Chris and Will for getting the ball rolling on the competition. Will be great if we can get at least 2 boats floating each month, although by CTC participation levels we should be shooting for 4+.

It looks like leaderboards are focussed on the boat average, and not the individual team members' times. Maybe it's so you can't see me manipulating entries to keep myself in Boat A with inferior times.

I can see the eligible entries on my side, so I'll do an occasional posting when I remember...

Code: Select all

Name Current Round
Ivan Vukovic	22:42.8
Chris Leitz	23:50.5
Chris Whale	25:30.0
William Haskell	26:30.8
I was playing around with the functionality this afternoon, so some of you might have noticed you appeared in boats without having a time logged. You can only save boats of eight names, so I had to add some names to fill boats up. A little fiddly but I've now managed to move Ivan from boat B to boat A. There is the option to have ladies in the men's boat, but not the other way around. I suspect we might not be able to get 8 ladies, so I'll fill mixed boats until I see 8 female entries.

And after all this chatter, I've chickened out of doing an entry tonight. I suspect I'd prefer to do it on Easter weekend, and not after a working day. I'm also the resident chef here, and with no takeaway deliveries operating in the lockdown I'm spending more time in the "place you cook food" <avoiding triggering the spam word replacement> than usual. Excuses, excuses. I expect I'm missing my chance to be in Boat A :).

Cheers
Dave
