Assembly issue

Post by tbbrown17 » April 2nd, 2020, 5:53 pm

Just got my BikeErg and I'm almost done assembling. I'm having trouble getting the handlebar assembly into the front tube. It's not sliding in the way it should. I hate to use a hammer on it. Anyone else had this problem? Any ideas? A little soap as a lubricant, maybe?
Thanks,
Tim

Be sure the upper tube is turned and aligned the right way. Do not use a hammer!
I didn't have any trouble with it. You might need to press down on the lever to get the tube to go in.

It's not the part that slides vertically into the down tube and has an adjustment lever, it's the part that slides horizontally into the top of the part you're talking about. (See the circled part in the photo)

In that case, be sure to loosen and pull out the knob as much as you can, because that's what tightens it up.

The first thing I did (obviously!) was loosen the adjustment knob as far as I could. It still doesn't fit. I have a call in to customer service.

After you loosen the knob, make sure the gap spread apart at the top.
The gap has to spread to make room for the tube. If it didn't spread apart, then spread it apart.

Problem resolved. I had to take a file to the plastic sleeve and file down the raised bumps a little, but it works now.
