The Corona pandemic affects us all, here in Austria we're in about the same situation, only leave home for (very important) work, food, medicine.

The virus is about two things.
One, protect the vulnerable, older, weaker, sick people, those need to stay in isolation, more or less. Those are the ones who could die.
Two, the rest of the population should, slowly get in contact with this virus, to get herd immunity , this should go slow enough so the medical healthcare system can keep up with treating the sick.
A complete lockdown would mean, complete isolation for a whole population until there is a vaccine, that could maybe take a year, so simply not an option.
Think this will take months before there is some sort of controle. This will become a very weird year

He had a bit of a grump next morning as he wasn't quite sure where things were, but surely it had to be easier to find anything at all after I was done.... And the closet doors are safe from falling off the rail, which is good, because last time one did, he was hopeless at getting it back on. I did it, but now, I doubt I'd be able. Takes patience and strength.

OK, my back wasn't too bad this morning, not good either, still a fair amount of nerve pain in my right hip/butt, but I've been missing rowing and no activity isn't good for me either.
So, I have *a* CTC challenge done. It is not a very good one. I could tell that I should not push at all, so that was just slow steady rowing for 4 minutes, then walking around for 3 during the rest interval, then strapping back in and so on so forth.
Rowing was at the point it didn't feel good, but wasn't producing bad twinges either. So I think I'll do some light stuff, try again in a few. If nothing goes further south. If you want me to enter what I have, I can, but it's pretty bad....

Every effort is worth recording, Cynthia, and it could be the reason another boat floats off the dock. Also, it's a snapshot of where you were at the time. So if you're feeling stronger later in the month, you will know you can chase down that entry and pass it. And if you don't get back onto the rower this month, you've at least contributed to the team entries and done your bit!

I'm OK enough today, no better no worse. Been to the doctor, he asked how things were going, I told him I feel like I'm making adjustments and can carry on at this level of pain. Spine injections are not out of the question, if things get worse, but those have risks and don't cure anything and don't necessarily even work for very long.
So we are leaving well enough alone at the moment and he wants to see me again in 3 months, or if things change for the worse, because, as he reminded me again, "You have a VERY bad back." He was pleased to see 6 pounds of weight loss since he'd last seen me, I did tell him I took a maintenance break during Jan/Feb and am back at it again now. He says further weight loss can only help, as long as I don't lose muscle.
I told him I'm doing what I can at home with bodyweight resistance and resistance bands, the local gym has closed because of the coronavirus. I don't think I'll row today, my foot is complaining a bit, hopefully a light easy short row tomorrow again.

I agree that there are enough challenges going in a typical month, and the IRL tends to get a token effort for me depending on other priorities at the time. The one advantage of the IRL is that it often is a ranking piece, so it forces you to go for some of the times / distances that I don't normally include in my training. There is another challenge that you might want to look at - the FMMC which overlaps with the IRL to a large extent, but replaces some of the non-ranking months with a ranking piece. It also does some age / weight standardisation, and some club / country rankings to add something different.
I find that if I'm not on a specific training plan, then the monthly challenges are useful to force me to get something done at least a couple of times a week. On the BikeErg / Zwift combo there are also various challenges through the year, so definitely enough to add some structure for a lazy person like me.
I see from your logbook profile that you're from Norfolk - my parents and sister live in Caister-on-Sea, so we might be able to arrange a mini Forum Flyers reunion next time I'm visiting the family (December plane tickets were booked before the travel ban, so hopefully that has run its course by the end of the year!).

I had planned on participating in a 24-hour cross-country ski race on March 21-22 and was taking this opportunity to raise funds for Insieme Genève, a local organization that helps intellectually disabled people and their families. FWIW, if you haven't already tried it Pilates has been the best thing I've found for dealing with back pains. Just the simple floor exercises that take about 15 minutes or so. I have been doing it for about seven years now and I wouldn't be without it.
