Yeeeeep!

Yeees, when buying the C2 in November 2019, I set an almost untouchable goal of breaking into sub17 on the 5k within 6 months. Today it was finally achieved, happy to say it was demolished 😆🥵🤢

New PB: 16:44.5!

Negative splitting it:
3:25.1
3:23.7
3:22.3
3:20.8
3:12.6
Wow, you're crushing all your already very strong PBs! Your 30min definitely needs an update, I won't be surprised if you get 8600m :)

I don't know what to say...two amazing PBs in such short time. Congrats!! You definitely used the negative split well and your engine is firing on all cylinders right now. You are not just hitting milestones but going way past them.

Thank you for the kind words guys :) yeah feeling good atm, so figured I just need to keep the momentum up, and push for some new records while the motivation is there.

You are really going well since you started to pick up some speed work, think you are sub 6.20 already now.

You'll be sub 15 by the end of the year

Clearly you are very suited to the erg, as they are exceptionally impressive leaps in PB

Thank you very much hjs, yeah I have really benefited from that speed work. Sub 6.20 would be great to achieve, not sure if I am really there yet, will have to try some time soon. Think the last timed 2k was the Norwegian indoor championship in beginning of January actually. I should definitely be in a better position now to break my PB :)

Haha

Not really sure I will be breaking into sub16 ever on the erg, it would definitely be a matter of years before something like that could be achieved. The local record is a whoppering 15:48.9, set by Martin Helseth(2020 Olympian). He has a 2k PB of 5:53.9, so don't think I should be aiming quite at that level, it will just lead to disappointment and demotivation :)

But yeah, the erg suits me very well, having the aerobic engine and decent strength from before has helped greatly.

Nice 5k, well done. Next stop sub 16.40. You can do 8600 30 min now no probs. I was doing more than that at 20 years senior to you.

Ooh, don't want to compare versus you quite yet, you are still far superior to me at 20 years seniority, and have some superstrong all-time PB's!

Think I will work on something else for a while now(not 5k), so guess 30 mins and 2k would be the easiest to improve!

My mother-in-law was in town watching my kiddo, so I decided to sprint my 5k, see what I could do while negative splitting. It’s much easier to row without “Daddy! Watch this! Look at this!” every 10 seconds.

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
21:18.2 5,000m 2:07.8 168 876 24
4:19.8 1,000m 2:09.9 160 849 26

4:08.6 5,000m 2:04.3 182 927 24
Started rowing 4/22/19.
PBs: 1min - 314m, 500m - 1:40.0, 1,000m - 3:45.3, 4min - 1,082m, 2,000m - 7:41.0, 5.000m - 21:18.2, 6,000m - 25:41.6, 30min - 7,010m, 10k - 44:40.5, 60min - 13,112m
