Wow - nice one Rod. Sub 1:50 looks very strong...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Thanks Mike, it was only 9 metres more than my previous best set just over a year ago so I've been Sub 1:50 before but being that much older now did make it a bit harder so delighted to have done it.
It shows that once I get something longer than a pesky 2k I've got a better chance so will have a crack at the ranking pieces longer than this on my way up to doing a Marathon.....but I don't think that will be for awhile yet!

Decided to try a PB for 500 yesterday after we had out chat. Lever set at 8. Was already a little fatigued after doing strength first, but not to the point that I can use it as an excuse:
16.9 - 100 - 1:24.5 - 39 - 137
16.7 - 200 - 1:23.5 - 36 - 164
16.8 - 300 - 1:24.0 - 39 - 173
....and boom, blew my doors of completely. Was not able to do the last 200 in a good tempo
Definitely need to incorporate anaerobic training on a weekly basis, not just sit there doing 5000+ meters.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Hi.
New to the forum and thought I might as well post about my progress. I started rowing again last year after 27 years off the water and I have been on the C2 for some land training. Before Christmas I did a 2000m in 7.02. TO be honest I was not very fit at the time and my schedule was all over the place. After a decent period of consistent training and weight loss through January I did another 2000m test last week. 6.45 was the result. I sure as hell am not going to get an improvement of that magnitude ever again!
I would appreciate some input from others about training regimes and workouts on the C2 as well as weights for me to be able to get my times down a bit further. Bear in mind that I am no spring chicken at 49 and that my overall goal is moving a boat faster. Cheers.

As the sprints are totally different to longer rows you'll need some training and time to adapt properly, but looking at your 30R20, height and weight I think you'll do fine after some weeks of sprint training. And your great 5k PB will definitely help too

Thanks Nick, the first 5 minute split was at 31 spm with the following 4 at 32 and the last one 33 (av. pace of that one was 1:46.4) giving an overall av. Of 32 spm so 2 or 3 spm lower than last year. I think that shows Eddie Fletchers coaching is working well for me!nick rockliff wrote: ↑February 21st, 2020, 7:36 amRod, great result, very well done. Cheers Stu, I think it shows I didn’t get the training right in my early erging days but I was mixing it with a lot of running back then and now I don’t run at all just concentrate on the erg…..so the extra erg training, longer sessions and coaching from Eddie Fletcher have all paid off.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑February 21st, 2020, 11:33 amWell done Rod, cracking result and getting an all time PB at 62 takes some doing. Very amusing warm up Dino and great work on the PB. This end of the rankings is always going to be the weaker end for me too. This PB is better than my LP!Dino wrote: ↑February 20th, 2020, 4:28 amLong time no post on this thread!
After another messy session of indecision and just row ...
~7k @ 2:03.9
~15min @ 2:01.8
~10min @ 2:03.0
~6min @ 1:54.8
...then decided to have a crack at the 1 min... probably only the 3rd time have tried the minute. Managed to add 5m so a new PB of 326m.
Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
1:00.0 326m 1:32.0 449 1845 35
1:00.0 327m 1:31.7 453 1859 35
This is my worst PB in terms of rankings percentile whereas HM is my best. At least I was nicely warmed up
I think I know where my strengths are although would be nice to one day to get it to 1:30 avg as a round number.
I don't quite understand why the summary line shows 326m @ 1:32 but the split line (which was a single split of 1 min) shows 327m @ 1:31.7?
