So, yesterday I decided to try the 6k time trial for the first time. Having done a heavy strength training workout the day before, I was not feeling optimal. I think that helps me actually, seems it takes some of the edge of, and I am able to get into my zone. Checked the Norwegian 6k ranking, and figured I had a shot at it. Managed to finish in 20:53.5, which I am really happy about :)
Excellent result. I also some times perform better when I'm sub-optimal. Your 10k needs to be done next

Nice work. This is a huge improvement.

Was it a deliberate plan to go out super fast or were you just a bit excited? If the latter, that's great work not to HD.

Thanks chaps

My actual plan was 1:43, 1:44.6, 1:44.6 then whatever I had left. Definitely got carried away at the start...was seeing 1:36 and forgot I had 1850m to go 😆😆😆. Settled down in the middle 1km then just kicked on...not much left in the legs though so the start was a mistake. No way I was going to HD...I really wanted it today 😎.

My new plan said hard distance for today and I'd planned for 5km but really felt this was due.

Lots more to test as I've never really done 500/1000 TTs.

Whatever was causing my slump seems to have gone away. Not sure if it was back to back SBs my last 2 nights of bowling, or that I sat down today with no plan, warmed up on the fish game then decided on 30m, but managed to beat my previous PB by 118m. Felt comfortable at 2:16 to start, then decided 15:00 in to start neg splitting and just go for it.

Very well done on the PB. With such a fast last 6', there is lots more to come as your confidence increases.

Very well done Alex. You have worked really hard and trained really well. Keep it going. Have not posted here for a while and have cut down my rowing sessions from last summer/autumn quite a lot. Am now doing more general fitness training but trying to do three rows per week - 2x 30 mins and an interval session. Managed to get a PB myself this morning with 7836m for 30 mins and think my goal for the year might be 8000m. Well done again. All the best, Phil.

New rower here - got started in earnest mid January. Old PB for 2k was 9:29. It was HR capped (160) but this morning wasn't really but a few beats over that - 8:48! Made up for wasting most of the workout time fiddling with ErgIQ and trying to get it to work.

Great - but I must say I'm disappointed that I was really expecting increased fitness to mean that I could do more work with the same effort. Instead it just seems like I'm able to do more effort. But it sucks a lot harder when you do it. The units of suck per watt haven't really changed.
