Did a 2k time trial today and was both pleased and disappointed with the result. It has been a while since doing a 2k so I guess my estimate was a little conservative as far as where my fitness is. Planned on 6:45 as a stretch goal and stayed on pace for that until the sprint.

I'm very pleased that I made it well under my goal but I feel like I could have gone way harder as I was pulling 1:30s for the last 250 and wasn't even near my max HR. I will have to test again in a couple of weeks and go for a real max effort.

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
6:42.8 2,000m 1:40.7 343 1479 33 176
1:41.6 500m 1:41.6 334 1448 32 171
1:42.3 1,000m 1:42.3 327 1425 32 177
1:41.7 1,500m 1:41.7 333 1445 32 179
1:37.2 2,000m 1:37.2 381 1611 35 180
That looks really strong and a great finish too!...Congrats on the PB, enjoy it!

Wow, congratulations. Enjoy this PB - there's clearly a lot more to come (I suspect you might be quite good at this indoor rowing lark ) - but you need to remember enjoy all the successes on the way!

Tried some 100m sprints today, unfortunatly I got 14.4 two times, so no new 100m PB, but at least I saw 1087W for the first time, so a LP PB :)

Looks like this result is my max atm, propably I'll get 0,1'' lower with a higher drag as I can't hold the pace for the last 5-6 strokes, the flywheel is spinning too fast. Shawn Baker put the cage off to get higher drags, I'll try that too next time. All my 14.4 efforts were at R58, maybe I find a way to rate up a bit.
Hopefully my 1'R20 max sessions with pay off in some weeks and I get stronger, but 14sec is far away atm.

Well done, but you can be faster for sure, sub 6:40. Your effort looks exactly like my latest effort, had a lot left at the end too, and your aerobic fitness is a good bit better than mine :)

Nice one and even nicer if you can do better - learning curve of course.
If you are pretty fit then 2k won't be long enough to get to MHR I suspect no how fast you go.

Higher than r58??!!! You'll be a fire risk going any faster.

14.4 is a really fast time and I think you are right it's your max atm, so now it's all about tiny little gains

Man, you are getting slow on sprints

Awesome power Martin, hard to get much gain on the 100m as it gets to fractions of a second. seeing over 1,000 watts is cool, I have never seen anything clo0se to that.

Yeah, at 100m every 0.1 sec gets harder and harder. My rationality tells me I shouldn't care too much about the sprints as my focus is on the middle and longer distances, but to be honest it's fun (unless injuring myself) and I'm a fan of reaching milestones, so the 14sec has a great appeal :) But this 0.4 sec will be tough, a 2 sec faster pace on average, impossible with my current LP. We will see...

Good to see your 2k prep is going well, only a few days till race, hope tapering works and you can race with fresh legs!

Yeah, trying to stick to what I have done on the past which will be mostly easy rows with maybe one harder day Wednesday and take the day off before race day. Knowing I have 2 comps coming I am trying to not put any pressure on myself for this first one. will plan race to get around PB but not going to be too upset if I miss by a little.

So, yesterday I decided to try the 6k time trial for the first time. Having done a heavy strength training workout the day before, I was not feeling optimal. I think that helps me actually, seems it takes some of the edge of, and I am able to get into my zone. Checked the Norwegian 6k ranking, and figured I had a shot at it. Managed to finish in 20:53.5, which I am really happy about :)
