Well done on this...you totally have sub40min 10K in you. Lots of volume and pace specific work and you'll be all good.max_ratcliffe wrote: ↑January 28th, 2020, 12:03 amDidn't really fancy a 10x1k r1 today, so had a crack at 30'.

Perhaps a little too conservative with the start, but the 30' has been a bit of a mental hurdle for me. Also managed a new HR PB. Go me.
Unfortunately, I couldn't rank this piece - a bit confused why at first...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Thanks Paul,
I have made lots of progress since you suggested I do some mixed pace stuff, which is now my staple workout for Saturdays. I have a 10k programmed in for this weekend, and this will be a good marker of how far away I am at the moment. I expect to need a good few weeks of solid volume (I don't think I can just suck it up), but I think I'll get there this season.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Worked out today and managed new PB’s in both total rowing time and distance covered: total time: 18:30, total distance: 3941m.
Workout consisted of a warmup (4min row at various SPM), followed by a Tabata work session (10s rest, 20s hard, 4 passes). I did two of these warmups and Tabata work sessions back to back, then did one more shorter moderate row for awhile after that followed by a final 20s max-effort push just for good measure. Felt good... still gotta get that HRM so I can see the heart graph. Looking forward to doing the same or more the next time.

Danger- Thanks for your feedback as well on my workout. I recently saw this in a British Rowing workout video on youtube (link below). The warmup/Tabata section I repeat is the first 6min 50sec of the video... planning on increasing the DF and repeating my workout soon.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑January 31st, 2020, 4:03 amNew PBs are always something to be proud of. Did a 2k time trial today and was both pleased and disappointed with the result. It has been a while since doing a 2k so I guess my estimate was a little conservative as far as where my fitness is. Planned on 6:45 as a stretch goal and stayed on pace for that until the sprint.
I'm very pleased that I made it well under my goal but I feel like I could have gone way harder as I was pulling 1:30s for the last 250 and wasn't even near my max HR. I will have to test again in a couple of weeks and go for a real max effort.

Very good result, and once you really know what you are capable of it is tough to know where to pitch it. 1:30 for that 250 defo shows you were too cautious.JustYankin wrote: ↑February 1st, 2020, 1:45 pmDid a 2k time trial today and was both pleased and disappointed with the result.
