#FMMC January attempt 2 and PB+2m 🤓.... could eek out some more as this was post workout, after dinner and before bed 😉

1:00, 334m, 1:29.8@43

First time under 1:30!

Benefit of home erg, higher DF and new erging shoes 😁

Nice work on the PB.

Not sure that dinner is the ideal preparation for a full bore effort like this.

What, pray tell, are "erging shoes"?
If I was sprinting 334m in a minute on a full stomach, I would want them to have added buckets.

Nothing special, just some flat soled court trainers I found that seemed to fit the bill for rowing. Less heel to toe angle and very low profile. My Running shoes have way too much soft stuff in the heel.

Well done Alex, one more milestone got crushed, hope you didn't need a bucket for your dinner :D
What DF did you use?
Haha....surprisingly felt OK after this.....just VERY short of breath. No bucket required
DF136 so more room for tinkering.....but I'm only a spindle :)

"The last 20-30s"... of a one minute row? This is a very good piece, especially given the way you describe your physique.

Never had the cojones to try 1min on the rower, but I had a go on the SkiErg a few months ago. It's a very strange experience when all the power suddenly just leaks away. I likened it to having a slow puncture. You're still trying, but there's nothing there. Quite different from an HD on a longer piece where the mind is often the culprit.

Finally improved my old 500m personal best PB of 1:29.1... Shaved almost a full second off!

500m / 1:28.2 / DF 155 / SR 37 / SPI 13.78 / 510w

Image

I'm very pleased... big improvement in my SPI... needed to see a big number today because I have a regional 1000m race next Sunday and I wanted to benchmark pace for the event... The pace calculator is pointing to a 1:37.3 the race... I might be able to do that... :o
Super fast 500m.....congrats on the PB!

Didn't really fancy a 10x1k r1 today, so had a crack at 30'.

7534m at 1:59.4. Woohoo - in your face, imaginary guy.

PB. 3' splits
3 739 2:01.7 22 161
6 742 2:01.2 23 163
9 744 2:00.9 23 168
12 741 2:01.4 23 170
15 746 2:00.6 23 173
18 747 2:00.4 24 177
21 745 2:00.8 24 178

27 769 1:57.0 26 185
30 807 1:51.5 28 190

Perhaps a little too conservative with the start, but the 30' has been a bit of a mental hurdle for me. Also managed a new HR PB. Go me.

Unfortunately, I couldn't rank this piece - a bit confused why at first...

Another really well done. If it's mentally daunting you were right to start slowly, but now you've done it, and you know what you are capable of, you will start faster next time.

Why couldn't you rank it?

I guess its the date on your monitor that stopping it being ranked as last season? If you connect ErgData and it detects date/time long way out, I think it will prompt you to update?

Thanks Stu,

The PM thinks it's 1 Feb 2019 - I didn't notice until I logged it once I got home (no ErgData ATM as bluetooth has packed up on my phone).
I could rank it (and have done so). I meant to say I couldn't verify the w/o - well actually I could have, but only for 1 Feb last season!

Thanks all,

Seeing 1:5x on the split for the piece is what gets my erging juices flowing.
I could perhaps have added another few metres if I hadn't gone out so conservatively, but I think this is just about the limit of what I can do currently. A sub-40' 10k is my grail PB, but I've still got some work to do before giving that a crack.
