Decided to finally start posting after my first 60' time trial yesterday. I've been watching this forum for a while and have learned a lot from everyone here. It might be sort of cheating to count my first attempt as a PB but I was very proud of the result and decided to share it anyway.

1:00:00.0 16,029m 1:52.2 247 1150 27
10:00.0 2,660m 1:52.7 244 1139 26

30:00.0 2,661m 1:52.7 244 1140 26
40:00.0 2,665m 1:52.5 245 1144 28
50:00.0 2,668m 1:52.4 246 1147 26
1:00:00.0 2,709m 1:50.7 258 1186 28

Decided to try and increase rate around the halfway mark but after 10 minutes @28 I decided that it was too early for that. Went back to 26 for another 10 minutes and then decided I could try and rate up again for the last 10 minutes and try and eek out a few more meters. Was aiming for 16,000 and made it there with the sprint at the end. My heart rate monitor died halfway through so no HR data for this one.

That is a good consistent workout there with really even splits! What HR were you round-abouts before the HRM died?

Thanks ampire!

It died at about the 25 min mark at a heart rate of ~175. My max heart rate as far as I can tell is about 195, which I hit in my 10K time trial a couple months ago.

Breaking 16km in the hour of power is something to be proud of.

It's a big milestone, a tough effort and you should be proud of that result

A PB is a PB. This isn't cheating! You should certainly feel proud of this hour's work. Well done.

Next step in the picking of low hanging fruit:

HM 1:28:22.4, 2:05.6 av split.

Think I probably could have gone a bit quicker.
The sweat band wasn't a great deal of help. That may have been because I left it on the floor next to the ergo.

2nd of my 2020 targets ticked off.
Missed this one - good stuff Max!
I think your 2020 goals are a bit low though if knocking off 12th day into the year! :D

HRM slipping... that must have been annoying - you did well not to use it as an excuse to HD. Do you actually look at the HR and use it during the row until it slipped that is? Does it help you pace it or maybe you would have been better off going by feel?
Sweat band... LOL. Its usually the fan for me... I normally start off thinking I wont need it... 10 mins later... why didn't I turn it on! I need some Alexa control or something where I can just shout "Fan On" or something like that! In fact I have just remembered I have a smart plug around somewhere... maybe I'll have to try that!

I have always said - if it's the first time you have done a trial it's the fastest you have done it so it's a PB! Plus it is a very good PB - breaking 16K is a big milestone - great work!

Thanks Dino,
I set my overarching goal as a 40' 10k reasoning that I'd get there around April. Then I applied Paul's law (sorry Henry) to the other distances I'm interested in. Turns out my aerobic fitness is a bit better than I thought :) so with a bit of luck they'll all be done by mid year... when I'll have to set some new ones.

My HRM is a new toy. I'm still finding it interesting to see whether I can alter the instantaneous HR by tweaking the stroke rate (seems to be at a minimum around 23 spm for long pieces) and by really focusing on leg drive (less clear, but in general a better drive seems to result in a lower HR for a given pace). It also seems to help me focus on something other than how long I have left to go .

Re better than going by feel? Probably a bit better - only the second HM I've done, so I was in the dark a bit about pace.
