Btw, the top meter generator, Darlene Brennan of the Ancients, is an ultra rower. She has topped 3 MM in this Challenge in previous years, a number only achieved by two people. Concept2 has put out a couple of articles about her (thanks danwho for finding them when I questioned "is she for real?!"). She rows for hours in a day once she hits the zone, and has been known to hit 100K in a day. Right now she's going at about 77K a day. One person. And she noted one thing that is particularly true: this Challenge has changed over the years. She says she could win the individual crown with a million meters ten years ago, and now it takes many more. Similarly, it takes an exponential effort for teams that want to stay in the hunt. Every meter counts.
Goodness. I had to check out the article, as I just couldn't imagine how anyone could possibly post that number of daily meters. She's to rowing what our own bg is to running! And, now, I'm even motivated to do a mid-afternoon bikeErg session, instead of waiting till late evening ... (Imagining myself running up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, humming iconic Rocky theme tune.)

Lot of fluidity in these rankings....one hour we're in 11th, and the next we're in the 14th spot. Question of the day is whether we'll see a decrease in meter output across the Concept2 Universe now that the traditional work week has returned. Windows of opportunity abound. Take advantage of yours.
If your personal target is to stay within the top ten percent, at this time you need to have 60,162 meters in your Challenge Meter Piggy Bank.

I had a couple good years doing the Fall Team Challenge. Darlene reached out to me one of those years and we traded a few messages. I asked her if she was like a former Olympian or something like that. Nope, she's just a really humble, down to earth, lady. She's even a vegetarian. She couldn't have been nicer or more encouraging to me. Darlene is a classy lady. She's also a machine. I'm going to go ready about her now. She's a phenomenon.

On another note, I just got the skierg to complete the set. OMG! I only thought that I was in respectable shape. I don't even know how to pace myself on it yet. What I'm doing is going to 100 calories on skierg, then 200 on rower, and then 300 on bikerg. I did a couple turns of that first thing this morning and then another one at lunch. On the bright side, rowing and biking seem really easy now.

The first time I saw the ski erg I had a feeling that would be far more brutal than the rower. I'd love to buy one some day, looks like absolute hell. I bet your stomach burns so bad working on that lol i'd probably buy a bike erg first though, just because if my back decides to go pop again on the erg, at least I can continue to work on the bike but the skierg looks like a wonderfully horrible time

I don't have enough stamina to know what muscles it's going to hurt. Plus, using some muscles used in rowing, but at different angles. I'd probably know more specific information if I wasn't also rowing and biking. As to the bike, I love it. Almost feels like candy because its just easier to go longer than rower.
Today, I did intervals on the skierg. That turned out to be a great idea. Gave myself a chance to reset and focus on form while recovered rather trying to improve form while feeling like my heart may explode. It was a good day 2. Will probably get a few more meters at lunch before I upload.

Almost 200 million meters have been earned by indoor rower, bike erg and yes, even ski erg, in the last 7-8 days. Darlene Brennan still leads the pack by 100 K. The "strategery" continues to play out throughout the Concept2 universe.

Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure a skunk family has taken up residence in a burrow established in the hedges to the side of my house. On warmer days here in the Rocky Mountains, there are definite whiffs of skunk stink. The skunks don't hibernate, but something pretty close to it as they hunker down for winter. I can hardly wait for spring and a herd of baby skunks...a surfeit of skunks.

Great, I'd love to know that the C-Breeze has a happy home in Canada. Shoot me your address and I'll send it on it's way. And, welcome to team Lunatics!

Current Challenge Individual Rankings: https://log.concept2.com/challenges/vtc ... ndividuals
Oh the drama of a "boat" race! Tom Odle of Greenville Indoor Rowing is a mere 10K behind Darlene Brennan right now. C'mon Darlene, hit the afterburners! These two individuals are remarkably well matched - each with lifetime meters totals in the 91-92 MM range. Amazing stuff and don't pop any of yer gaskets.

Way to erg, Lunies! We are almost to FOUR million Challenge meters via the Lunie Challenge Team, and the Challenge isn't even a third done yet. We are hanging on to the pace that the reindeer set in the Holiday Challenge!

Current standings (Challenge teams): https://log.concept2.com/challenges/vtc/2020/teams
The Lunie Challenge team crossed the FOUR million meter milestone in the last 24 hours...in 9 days! Great effort by all Challenge team members!
On the individual top contributor list, Darlene is still leading the pack and has put a little more distance between herself and the pack that's nipping at her virtual heels.
At the stroke of midnight...
Today is the LAST day to declare your goal intentions for the January Revolution Challenge if you are opting in for this individual Challenge. Here's the link: https://log.concept2.com/challenges/january Some of you have posted items that indicate that you are going after the calorie goal of this Challenge. I was trying to find a way to see how many calories I have burned during the Challenge without having to do an individual workout assessment (although it would not be difficult). Is there a calculator out there or do you have to pretty much look back at the PM memory function for each piece?

Here's the deal about graphics: I can post ten of them, and then if I select do not automatically parse URLs, more. But if I select the do not automatically, it disables the links to the standings...which I think most find more useful at the moment. Just an explanation of why they are in a little different pattern.
