Keep thinking I've lost a reindeer somewhere! Not intentional if I've missed your celebration...we will catch up...one day we might even have graphics again!
Might be me. We'll see if I pop up in the recap. I qualified on 12/23. Just want to say how fun and motivating this has all been. You guys are awesome! We just got this thing this summer, and I've already joined in with you guys and completed three challenges, with more to come. I just hit 500K, and I'm determined to hit 1MM this season. So, thanks for getting me through the holidays, you guys!

And I hear Texas is much nicer than North Carolina. :D

Is it possible to be proud of myself, yet bummed at the same time? That's the position I find myself in. Although I was able to get a reindeer in the challenge for the first time (one of my goals), I fell 21,000m short of my other goal for the challenge which was to get the reindeer bling (also known as 200,000m). I'm done rowing for the challenge, but am on track for my next goal of rowing a half-marathon on New Years day. So all in all I am satisfied with a job well done personally and as a part of the Luna-tics. It was fun to be a part of. Thanks Loonies for making it a challenge (to get a reindeer) within the Holiday Challenge. It made it fun and I loved seeing the reindeer being added on almost a daily basis. You guys are the best and I'm happy to be a part of such a supportive and involved team.
Yes, it is, but it is a definite congratulations on getting your reindeer!
Good luck on your New Year's challenge.

I’m in the same position! Was hoping for 200k, but once I realized I was losing 3 weekends due to thanksgiving and Christmas travels and a third to a wedding, not to mention my bowling league nights twice a week during the week plus kiddo Christmas program, I think I did alright to hit 100k. I did manage an hour row (twice) for the first time, and beat a 45 minute 10k as well. Progress is progress, and it’s more fun sharing it with a team!
Congratulations on getting you reindeer! (It's definitely tricky with all the other commitments.)

Merry Christmas team! I made it home to be with family for Christmas this year. So life is good. I read the others not meeting their goals - no worries you still did awesome meters. Enjoy the journey and set new goals...

On an even better note- I will be moving back with a new job in Texas or North Carolina. I told them either place is fine just bring me back.

Enjoy the holidays and I hope everyone has a great 2020!

Happy rowing,

Ed
Woo Hoo! I am sure it will be great to able to work in the same hemisphere as your family!

I'm too lazy to try to go back and look - how does our reindeer fleet compare to last year? We certainly have a terrific number of them.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 12.26.19

Post by Kona2 » December 27th, 2019, 10:43 am

Great meter accomplishments by the Concept2 Universe for the Holiday Challenge. It does appear that we will fall short on the goal of getting 20K individuals to participate in the Challenge, and short of the requisite meters to claim the full Concept2 donation amount. The number of available days to erg between Thanksgiving and Christmas as a purely numeric amount was 26 days...the shortest possible time between the two dates, and six days shorter than last year. Naturally each of us has other definitions that fit available days, and that number definitely varies person to person and year to year. Wouldn't think that the number of participants was impacted by the shorter number of days, but the available days could definitely "hurt" your ability to reach your Challenge goals.

Post by Kona2 » December 28th, 2019, 12:06 pm

Alas, still no graphics...but it does look like they are getting closer to appearing. Tough when things like this happen over a major holiday when tech support is trying to have family and friends time, too. Giving them a pass for a few more days...

Speaking of a few more days, you still have time to make that next milestone while we are between Challenges! Don't want to get all erg rusty with the Virtual Team Challenge on the very brink of happening. Yes, the galactic gauntlet will be thrown and all the virtual teams will have to put up or fall to the bottom of the heap. There will be heated contests, and most of these will happen in the last two weeks of the Challenge once the teams are "set" and additional teammates cannot be added. Still, one of the lessons learned is get ahead to stay competitive down the stretch. It's a great time of year to continue some extra exercise!

In your logbook, scroll over to the TEAMS heading...and then scroll down to "Next Challenge" - and click on the join the challenge. You'll be all signed up and ready for virtual team meter contribution! We're an open team - anyone can join in.

So happy to hear, Ed! Bet it might be hard to fit in those 33,333 m rows now.

Only 89 days until baseball's Opening Day...March 26th...!

Meanwhile, the January Virtual Teams Challenge looms large as we get close to leaping into 2020...the year of the Rat. This will be a good time for the comic strip Pearls Before Swine....where Rat is a mainstay character.

Ten Forward has sure changed a lot since my day, but I will try my hand as Guinan's assistant as NYE bartender.

Let me know your Virtual Drink Orders for the Loony New Year.
