Dave, willingness to serve rare as hen’s teeth is it not? And you have additional qualifications in my view. Agree with Lindsay, Rick, and Chris; you are the one that we (or is it wee?) want. Maybe the Facebook folks should have a voice also as it’s abundantly clear that member response on this team page is severely limited. I am assuming that we have an active Facebook presence? What think you, Chris? Worth running up the pole, see who salutes?

Thanks all for the support / pushing me under the bus :) .

Happy to wait for the Facebook community's input before we finalise anything, but I suspect that things might be quieter over there than here (if you can believe it).

Henry, in the short-term, can you send the Team Challenge captaincy over to me? Transferring seems to be an option on the Team Captain page according to the FAQ.

Cheers
Dave

Whaddyaknow, my login/pwd still work. :D

I'd say this forum is more active than the Facebook Flyers, but in any case I'm happy to support Dave for the captainship.

EDIT: It looks like I haven't updated my signature block since 2011. Bodyweight is the only thing that's current, although over the years it went up to 105 before coming back down to 90

Thanks all. I'll kick off the January challenge once Henry has transferred the captaincy on the system.

In the meantime, I hope everyone's getting some time off in the next couple of weeks. I had my last day at work yesterday for the year, so can now focus on finishing the Holiday Challenge. 4 days left to do 91km is the most I've left at this stage, but the BIkeErg is making it less intimidating. The metres are halved for the challenge, but I'm not dreading today''s 100 000m attempt as much as I'd be worried about a marathon on the rower. Using the Alpe route on Zwift to keep me motivated, and also have a pile of Netflix shows expiring on 31 Dec to keep me distracted.

Cheers
Dave

well done Dave and thanks for taking on the captain's role.
The opposite for me I am afraid - busiest time of the year here

Henry, Rick is on to Dougie to expedite the passing of the torch (CTC thread).

Hi Henry

I think the problem might be because I am still a captain of an old team that hasn't been used in years. I tried to transfer to my wife to free up the captaincy slot, but I don't think she's finished her part of the process. I'll reply to your message when I get that part done.

It also looks like people can sign up for the January challenge without me being in place (I thought the captain had to open up the team for a specific challenge, but that seems to be the old way things worked).

Hi all to Flyers old and new.

Been a while since I've posted... in fact don't think I have since the UK forum was shut down!

Just been reading the last few pages and really sorry to hear of your injuries Henry, I know you'd always had to be careful with your back but sorry it's gotten to the point where you can't continue to row.

I've just re-re started doing a bit more rowing - I had started getting back into it last year but had to stop again due to recurring knee issues, they seem to be OK after quite a bit of a physio and some new exercises over the last 3 - 4 months so trying to get back to some regular rowing over the last 6 weeks which is going OK. Can hopefully continue that and start putting some proper CTC times in in the New Year.

Hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year :D

Cheers

Andrew

Dana, from c2 fixed it. You are good to get the flyers going. Enjoy! :D

Dena Hirchak? Always helpful when forum operations reach a certain level of stubborn opacity.
