Sorry to hear that Henry. Hopefully a break can help, or you can find something else to throw yourself into. The BikeErg plus Zwift might be an option to look into.

Henry, swimming keeps a lot of people in the functional fitness game. And I’ve heard that a loss of direction demands plotting a new course. Have you ever coached or taught sports? Might get you out of your head? Gotta find things to do in stormy weather. 👍 👍

I first need to heal up.

Jack yes, but that was before my back accident. Was a track and field trainer, pretty serious.

Swimming who knows. I have a pool next to the gym I go.

Henry as the others say - that is bad news and bad luck. I have always felt a connection from the other side of the world and hope we can catch up again next time in your area. All the best for finding a way forward - your strong mind is your greatest weapon I suspect and there is a lot of positive vibes for you all around the world.

I still am the flyers Captain, so this should be taken over. Cheers Henry
I guess we need to change this by Jan1 and the VTC - I would nominate Dave the slothful1 or Rick Bayko

had a go at the ctc today and a little bit better than expected so might have to do it again.

Lindsay, both Rick Bayko and Dave Moores are excellent choices for Team Captain. Rick the Cal Ripkin of CTC and well-known to and respected by the competitive erging community worldwide; Dave fully engaged with forum moderation and Flyers team development. I nominate Chris Whale also. Chris didn’t shy from engaging with and doing the chores on the US forum when the UK forum shut down.

Can we devise a path to a quorum poll of members? If determined by acclamation, less than a dozen members will make this decision. The Dutch Legend deserves a worthy successor!

Oh no! I understand that the Commodore of the CRASH-Bs was elected to a lifetime post by virtue of not being present when the voting was done. This could be similar.

While honored to be considered, I'm not as active as I used to be and would be happier with a more active member taking over. Someone like Dave Moores, or Lindsay, or Jack, etc. If, and only if, no one else will take it would I be willing to step in and keep things rolling. I'm a better Indian than a Chief. (er, or Native American, if I've offended any Cherokee or Cree or Apache other tribe members reading this  )

I'm honoured to have my name thrown around among the legends of the team. I just look more active than the average person, because I lurk past occasionally swatting spam posts in between Citroen's more diligent efforts. Happy to be considered, although Jack and Lindsay are very subtly steering the focus away from themselves, when they'd also be worthy skippers.

The best compromise would be Chris, because he was the captain at some point, and also keeps the stats ticking over. I don't see him on here that often, so it might be a while before he even notices that the ship is drifting aimlessly around.

Yes, we should find out if Chris Whale is interested? In the meantime, any volunteers from among those who visit but leave no trace? Any one have an anecdote the equal of Rick’s reluctant Commodore? Anyone who will serve even if elected? 😂

I really hate this bloody rowing machine, you try to lose it but it sits there lurking in the back ground, whispering 2k, 2k, 2k, and like a lamb to the slaughter you wander back.....

Thanks for the mentions and the nomination, however, similar to recent work trauma, I am of the never go back. Dave or Lindsay would be great choices and have been around for ages.

What I will commit to is being the European and facebook correspondent, I'll post more and obviously keep up the stats and also make sure it is full of my usual stupidity. I love the rowing machine for some strange reason, so happy to spread the love where ever I can.

Henry, sorry that the back is failing you. I have found swimming massively helpful, also the outdoor swimming, although it does not replace the rowing blast and fix we probably all crave. good luck with the recovery and rehab
