The health care in my country is mainly government-funded, so unless you are dying it's not easy to get an appointment. I was asked if I had fever. I said "no". They told me to wait a few more days.

Do bike shorts really help? Never had experience with that kind of clothing.

Re: Rectal problems (Sensitive topic)
If it works for you great, but a common problem using boxers or briefs under dedicated cycling or rowing shorts (when on the bike or the erg) is that they aren't really designed for that and often have seams in spots that take pressure, which is a bad thing. As they say, cycling and rowing shorts are intended to be worn "next to the skin."
Best of luck to the OP.

Got an appointment today. Thank God, it was only a big hemorrhoid. Now I have to use suppositories for two weeks
Anyone here rowing with hemorrhoids?

Re: Rectal problems (Sensitive topic)
A short update. The (pretty large) external hemorrhoid lasted for three weeks. After some shorter sessions I’m back in normal training again.
Today I did a half marathon in bicycle shorts. I was hoping that they would protect the buttocks but mine seem to have a poor fit.

Glad to hear that things are looking up.Bradycardia wrote: ↑December 7th, 2019, 4:18 pmA short update. The (pretty large) external hemorrhoid lasted for three weeks.
I'm sure the docs gave you the info on the "best practices" to avoid this in the future, but if not: 1) lots of fiber in your diet and lots of fluids, 2) no straining (whether "on the pot" or weight lifting), etc. etc.
Good Luck

I recently had to call the suppository helpline. Couldn't believe how rude they are.

They probably get sick of having to remind folks to stick it up where the sun don't shine rather than ingesting their meds orally.Rowan McSheen wrote: ↑December 21st, 2019, 11:13 amI recently had to call the suppository helpline. Couldn't believe how rude they are.
