When I was at FIBO, I tried the VR rowing from company Holodia and it was really good. I was thinking of getting it, and now they have a Christmas discount so I think I'm finally going to do it.
They also published this blog recently where one of their users increased his rowing distance by 5 times. I feel like the game elements might make me actually stick to it.
Do any of you have it? I can't wait to race someone

I tried out an early version of this over a year ago and thought it was cool and seemed to work well. Like Zwift, it can be a very compelling way to help the time go by if that's what motivates you. It's pricey so there may not be many other users to do virtual racing with.

Its not for me, cannot imagine wearing that head gear with all the sweat.
If you want something with a lot of actual people online then Zwift looks to be the way to go. There are many, many people just waiting for them to get the Concept 2 Erg connected up properly.
There appears to be only a relatively small percentage of Concept 2 Erg owners that like to row online, but many already have bikes and the "Cyclist" mentality to group riding appears to be so different from the individualist "Rower" mentality which is a great shame.
Hopefully only one online rowing platform will dominate, there are simply not enough "Online" rowers to be spread across multiple bits of rowing software.

@c2jonw
Yeah, I liked it as well! I just hope their community takes off, I see that right now they seem to be doing pretty well from what they share online
@Carl Watts
When I tried it, I didn't mind it. And they had these antibacterial wipes to wipe off the pleather material on the headsets. But you're right, to each his own
And about Zwift, do they now have rowing tracks? That might be interesting

A couple more thoughts on the VR topic- a big part of keeping motivated with VR is how intricate the environments are and how frequently the developers add or revise environments, especially if there are not a lot of other users. At some point you get bored with the same course.
The extra motivation that one gets from other users on the course in Zwift was a big factor for me- VR is going to have to get cheaper to get the user numbers up.
Also notable was how unremarkable it was that I was rowing and going forward in the VR.

I think that would mess with my head at first, expecting to see the scenery move away, and then you're all of a sudden headed straight ahead....
They could set it with scenery moving away, and a little mirror to the side showing what's "behind" you in the direction you're actually going
VR is so close to being a strong consumer market, that price tag in all sectors just needs to drop a little bit
