PM5 and Strava
PM5 and Strava
Hi,
Just bought myself a Concept 2 with a PM5. I come from a cycling background with the mindset 'if it's not on strava it didn't happen', so I've connected the PM5 via Bluetooth to the ErgData app which syncs with my online logbook. This then automatically sends the workouts to Strava.
My issue is that my workout times are losing 8 hours in the transfer. I'm in the UK (GMT+0), but by the time they've got to Strava they are 8 hours earlier, which is I assume is California time (GMT-8). I did a 5km row this morning at about 7am UK time. It appears in Strava as being at 11pm last night.
I've checked every setting I can find in the app, in the online logbook, and in Strava. Does anyone else have this issue?
Thanks

Check the date on your PM5.
Re: PM5 and Strava
I have a similar problem.
After my interval training, the ErgData app saves significantly fewer meters to the logbook. After the automatic transfer to Strava, there are even fewer meters shown.

I’m using the ErgData app. I connect my concept 2 logbook to Strava and Garmin Connect.
When done rowing I hit sync on the ergdata app and within a minute or so it uploads to Garmin Connect and Strava. Numbers are identical on all platforms.

Yeah, but when I do intervall training, the numbers aren't identical.

Re: PM5 and Strava
Is it only when you do intervals that the numbers don’t match up?

Re: PM5 and Strava
Yes, only after intervals. And it's crazy, that the PM5 monitor, the Concept2 logbook and Strava all are showing three different numbers (meters rowed).smokersteve wrote: ↑January 29th, 2020, 12:16 pmIs it only when you do intervals that the numbers don’t match up?
Maybe it is because of the breaks? If so, why isn't Strava just showing the same information as the Concept2 logbook.

Have you tried disconnecting Strava and C2 logbook and then connecting again?cyqle wrote: ↑January 29th, 2020, 1:39 pmYes, only after intervals. This fixes issues for me when my Garmin 520 isn’t working well with strava

Re: PM5 and Strava
Does anyone know why the automatic screenshot of the PM5 doesn’t upload to Strava anymore? I use the ErgData app and also have a Garmin app that separately uploads activities to Strava but I don’t record my rows on the Garmin app.
I have a suspicion it’s the Garmin app interfering with the Strava upload but not too sure.
All this technology annoys me. I might just sack it all off and go live in a cave. Does anyone know a good forum for cave living?

Re: PM5 and Strava
I have no issues with the screenshot upload using PM5, Ergdata on an iPad, and Strava. So it does sound like the Garmin is the culprit. What's the Garmin app used for? Workout logging? Perhaps you can disable it temporarily and see if the Strava upload works. That said, I find those PM5 screenshots a pain in the ass. First thing I do is delete the screenshot.MiseryStreak wrote: ↑May 16th, 2020, 2:44 pmDoes anyone know why the automatic screenshot of the PM5 doesn’t upload to Strava anymore? As for cave living, if I knew you better I might join you. As much as I appreciate the stats and all the clever stuff around the technology, it takes me so long to get set up, with my PM5, Ergdata, HR strap, fitness tracker, headphones, and deciding what to watch/listen to while I workout.
Re: PM5 and Strava
Regarding dodgy data, I too have persistent discrepancies between PM5, logbook, data downloads, and my own spreadsheet records. And I also see odd things happening with intervals. Even though I row or ski (say) 5 x 1000m, and the PM5 and logbook says 5000m, the season totals seem to be out by a few hundred meters, and maybe 3 or 4K over a season. And my average daily figure, as shown on the Challenges page of the Logbook, shows me doing more metres than the Log and my spreadsheet say.
My assumption is that somehow, when I do my 5 x 1000m intervals, any casual strokes in the rest period might be counted. Or on the SkiErg as it takes a few moments for the flywheel to stop spinning, this possibly gets interpreted as extra metres. (Just a muddled guess on that last point.) Whatever it is, it's annoying, especially as I'm a bit nerdy with stats and record-keeping.
According to the online Logbook, I passed my 1,000,000 metres about 4 days before my own personal spreadsheet records said I did it. No big deal but I was keen to get past that milestone, and was actually slightly disappointed when I saw my logbook telling me I'd already done it as I was preparing to do the workout that would take me over that line!
