Day 25 of 31...7th!

Much earlier today, the Challenge numbers showed that we had slipped to #8. A closer look showed there was a team atop the heap with a big error in numbers, and that's been corrected now. So still 7th...and still have the Ancients chomping on our erg caboose. And a week to go! Whew. Hang on to your erg handles, and erg handlebars. This is a WILD time for Challenge.

And it's a wild weather time here in the Rocky Mountains. Predictions are that we will have a 70 degree temperature drop from today's high of 81 to Friday morning's projected 11 F. Shiver me timbers and get out the hot soup.

Meanwhile, today has been a beautiful fall day. I've shared before that I volunteer with Bike Jeffco, an advocacy organization. Up until 2017, there was a two mile stretch from Denver to Idaho Springs where the only way a cyclist could get from A to B was to bike on the freeway. There were fatalities. 11 years of advocacy got funding for a bikeway called the El Rancho-Genesee Bikeway. It took two years to get it built, and we all celebrated with a ride on it in October 2017. A couple months later, our Bike Jeffco Chairman died unexpectedly. We spent the next two years getting permission from Denver Mountain Parks to put a memorial bench on that bikeway for our Chairman....and today was its dedication. So I'm late getting the numbers posted (not that you need to know why, but it's a cool thing when "victories" are sometimes a long time in process). Makes you want to share.
