For those wondering the AIRC is held in 9 venues around Australia at the same time to try to maximise participation in our big empty country. Results are then merged from all venues. Rowing Australia is very keen to develop Indoor Rowing as a legitimate sport - we are hoping 5-700 on the day.

I have the habit of trying to do all the events Jim - no need to watch others race! Goals have to allow for that and how far apart the races are and the like. Did 5 races in 3 hours last month. Raced a lot all over the place in the past ten years.
My big goal at the moment is to stay sub 7' for the 2k for as long as possible and hopefully at 70y+ so would like a couple of seconds under. After that it depends on what is left in the tank but would like to see sub @1:42 for the 4 minutes and around 1:32 for the 500m.

i would definitely be up for a 10k. prefer that to a 2k lol but they might not as they also dont have it with the NZ indoor rowing comp either. they do however have it included in the masters games here and might be the same for Auss

RA is very keen to develop indoor rowing as part of the sport of rowing (I am on their advisory committee) and have discussed longer distance events but not in the near future as their focus is strongly on participation numbers and trying to make inroads into the OTW community who are unlikely to embrace the idea of racing over distance.
The 4 minute event at AIRC is to help support the adaptive/Invictus rowers who race over time. There is a real effort to get into schools and crossfit and other interest groups as well which is why the 500m appeals.
There are very few 5/10km events anywhere that I am aware of but often the NZ Masters Games will have one as part of their events when held at Wanganui on the North Island (next is 2021).

masters games here in NZ are alternate years at Dunedin (next in 2020) and Wanganui (as Lindsay says 2021)
