Been years since I've been in boat 1, where are the big bangers this month
Allan you are a big banger at the moment - great training numbers
BTW are you going to be in Cambridge in November?
...and will you be 64 or 65 on the day??
(flirting with coming over the ditch)

No ladies here this month I am afraid.
Terry and I have been "recruited" by Georgie to do the IRL with the "Uncut Diamonds" (a team of oldies) as there was no possibility for the High Flyers to get to 8 and they asked nicely - doesn't change our FF loyalties at all I should say

Maybe they will show still.

I am out this month, was a week on holliday, plan was to pick things up after that. But that completely failed, tired, injured I pull absolute nothing. Not even tried the ctc, but took a crap 6k result to give me an entry.
Bad to hear, hope you're soon fit again!

Couldn't convince my wife to give the CTC a try this month, but she already did a 5,1k row, I'll enter her pace of this session (didn't know that's OK), so we have another boat floating.

I'll give the CTC a try today, good chance to get in boat 1 for the first time :D
Cheers,

Imo its valid, she did the meters, only with less rest.

After I guested to do the oldies 100k record with the Diamonds in 2017 Georgie did the same to me when there appeared to be no vacancies in a Sub7 IRL boat and I've contributed to the Diamonds IRL since then. Still do all the other stuff with Sub7. I understand that the Diamonds aren't a club in the sense of the Flyers or Sub7 but the difference seems very subtle to me - other than we all have other team affiliations. Whatever, nice to see you in the sister boat... :D

I don't think there's anything in the rules about rowing intervals with less than the prescribed rest.

Your final time is likely to be worse if you row 4800m straight through or the intervals with 2' rest rather than 1800 3'R, 1200 3'R and 1800m so I think I'd allow the result to be entered.

The thing that isn't allowed is trying to pluck 4800m out of another row and using that (usually seen as plucking a distance from a timed workout).

The Diamonds are multifaceted with a few pure gems amongst us B) .

Apologies to Dave and Frank, but if they would like to join another team for the IRL, I'm sure there are plenty of places out there.

No worries Georgie! I’ll still do the events because it’s a good excuse to knock off some ranking distances, plus a little lazy to go looking for other teams. :)

Sept. ‘19 CTC:
Trip to AT/TR border on limited fitness. Bookended the 1800s on pace (certainly not by intention!)

Hi Lindsay. Yeh I thought about it, haven't discounted yet and would be good to catch up. Will give it a couple of weeks to decide. Gave CTC a first crack, should end up around the 400 watts (2.06 to 2.07). Planned to do 2 with the first being a tester at around 350 but after 30 seconds was sitting on 390, backed off a wee bit then put last 20 second burst. Could be a bit of a pig if you went out at 500 pace.

Thanks Allan - I did a 666 @1:42 last night to try to get some rigour - you are well ahead of course and all those meters must mean your engine is really purring a the moment. Would you be 64 or 5 at Nov 23? (it would be great to catch up after 10 years in Auckland but nicer for me if we aren't racing together!!)

that's great - I am really keen to make it but have to overcome some competing "interests"

Well spotted Henry - glory days! We were very strong in the sprints at that time and notice 11 boats out of 56! I think the standard has risen a peg or two of course.

Yes, current overall level is higher with even some world elites involved
