Image It's time for the Tarantula Migration in southern Colorado...

Pedal the Plains is traveling a segment of a previous year's route...and it's the one that gives cyclists who are early out on the road a glimpse of something many people will NEVER see (and most of them are just fine with that!)...it's the tarantula migration. I've mentioned it here in previous years, yet it's worth mentioning again. So unique! Sorry to be missing this one, but it happens.

I am back on the walking trail with the pups so healing is happening!

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.

Post by BigBrett58 » September 6th, 2019, 1:12 pm

I was looking back a few years for Fall Team Challenge stats. I was 2nd best of the guys in 2011 and 1st in 2012. In 2013, I changed jobs and moved back home to the family farm. I couldn't figure out a good routine to work out, so I just stopped exercising. Smoking close to 2 packs a day, eating poorly, and not exercising led to some pretty deteriorating health. I gained a 100 pounds and couldn't breath without wheezing. The sad thing is the 100 pounds I gained were the same ones I lost when I bought a rowing machine in 2010 and worked so hard over the next couple years. The good thing is I know what it takes to get back in shape. This time, I quit smoking cold turkey at the beginning about 7 weeks ago. I've lost 25 pounds. Still a long road ahead. I'm older now and it seems so much harder than before. Anyways, here we go again. I appreciate being among some familiar people that I remember from 7-9 years ago.

Thanks for sharing your story! We never know who gets help from the stories we share, but they do indeed help others. Wishing you good luck and fortitude!

Thanks Kona. You're such an encourager. You hit the point of why I shared. I'm sure there are others that are walking similar journeys. You're not alone. You fall down - you get up again. Just one foot in front of the other.

Image It'll be on us in EIGHT days!!

Virtual teams like ours aren't eligible for shipped prizes in this Challenge - so we erg for pride, and for all the other reasons we erg! Erg what you can, when you can. One of the ways that some team members have contributed meters in the Fall Team Challenge is to add an extra five or ten or even 15 minutes to their planned erging session. Those extra meters really add up!

Hoping to get clearance to resume erging again next week. I remind myself that just getting to walk the pups again is progress. Naturally I always want to do more.

Hi, guys. Heather here. I'm from Austin, TX. Recently got a rower. Not a big exerciser, but hope to make it a daily habit. So I thought I would join up with you guys and do this Fall Challenge. Here's hoping I make you proud.
