PM5 Issue
PM5 Issue
New to rowing and purchased a used 'D'. The PM5 worked when I bought it and was on when I loaded it into the car. Has not worked since I brought it home.
Figured it was the batteries and replaced those. Nope. Loose connection? Checked the plug to the PM5. Seems fine. Tried the troubleshooting guide and the battery box is not an 'A' or 'B'. I have a 'C'. Short? Can't locate it if it is.
Seems to me it must be something simple since it worked when I bought and loaded it and does not now. Hopefully it is something obvious.
Help!

Re: PM5 Issue
Hopefully it's not the reason the past owner was getting rid... if the monitor only works sporadically.
My PM5 done something odd once but it was just the batteries had worked their way out of the holder!! But obviously this can't be the issue in your case.
You were careful with transportation of your machine? no knocks or bangs to anything?

Re: PM5 Issue
Thanks. Read this notice last night. I don't have REV A or REV B, I have REV C.

Re: PM5 Issue
In that case you should call Concept2 as it may still be under warranty.

Re: PM5 Issue
Are you sure you tried a set of new Alkaline batteries, not just some you had lying about ?
Did you try a full factory reset ?
I presume your getting nothing on the display at all, if its just your not registering your rowing it could be something else.

Went to the store and bought new batteries. I have not done a reset. I'll give that a try.Carl Watts wrote: ↑August 31st, 2019, 6:06 pmAre you sure you tried a set of new Alkaline batteries, not just some you had lying about ?

Re: PM5 Issue
Factory reset seems to have done the trick.

Re: PM5 Issue
Jump on the concept 2 website and update the firmware to the latest version then factory reset it again, you should be fine from then on.
https://www.concept2.com/service/monitors/pm5/firmware
Just about every monitor I service is still on the factory firmware it was released on and countless bugs have been sorted since the PM5 was released over 5 years ago now.

Re: PM5 Issue
Thanks Carl. Probably would not have thought to update if it had not been for your advice. Went from v19 to v29. Also signed up for notifications.
