There it is...the result we all knew you had in you!!!1 Two things stand out to me. 1) you had your HD wobble, so that proves you were on the limit 2) your pace didn't drop though so you kept it nicely on track.MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑August 3rd, 2019, 4:53 amWoohoo - 30min - 8.023m - +70m

Got the 8k! I was good prepared, but felt a bit tired and still too warm. The session was really on the edge, at about 10min to go I seriously considered a HD, but luckily I was able to convince myself to finish. Very happy with that result!
I'm sure that with more fitness, and a higher rating you will go even faster...so I need to get a new PB before you start getting too close
Very happy for you Martin and now you have broken that mental barrier all of your sessions will become easier and faster when you're doing TTs. It's a virtuous circle: you know you can go faster so you do go faster

This PB really is a big relief for me, like you said, a mental barrier got crushed. A few months ago this 8k were clearly out of range, but my improvements are really fast by now, a great feeling!
I fear your PB is still save for quite a long time, with my current motivation and training schedule >8.300 is possible next season I hope Your recent sessions show that you definitely have a PB in you when you're 100% fit, I would be very pleased to see that soon!

I think everyone has a mental barrier for a specific distance; mine is a sub 36 10km I should be capable of it ,with some rough moments, but it still eludes me.MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑August 3rd, 2019, 12:15 pm

It's like the sub 4 min mile, but on a micro scale. They said it was impossible but when Roger Bannister did it, loads of others did it not long afterwards. You can talk yourself out of it without even realising it.
Over 8,300m is coming. It might be a while, but you're homing in on it as your fitness improves your age and strength will pay dividends

Thanks Alasdair! I don't know why, I always have some reserves at the end, but if I go a bit harder for the first 90% I risk a HD, must be a mental thing which hopefully gets better in the long run.jimmyshand wrote: ↑August 4th, 2019, 8:01 amGreat work Martin! We are very equal at all the longer distances by now, I hope your holidays helped you to relax, you'll get some new PBs very soon for sure! My next one will be the 10k I think.

Its mental, you more or less negative splitted, if you really are on the edge there should be a small fade, apart from the last 5 again. But don,t worry, no need to force it. Keep pulling pb sMartinSH4321 wrote: ↑August 4th, 2019, 10:06 amThanks Alasdair! Yes!! Just saw this - great job! I know you have been chasing the 8k mark for a little while and to me its one of those major milestones especially as you have improved your fitness. I (like you) was way better at shorter rows and remember taking a little time to hit the 8K mark and then even longer to hit 16k for 60 minutes. Definitely a mental think and sounds like you faced that during the row and beat it.MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑August 3rd, 2019, 4:53 amWoohoo - 30min - 8.023m - +70m

accidential 100m PB - 15.1
The 100m wasn't planned for today, but my son came home earlier than expected, so I only could quit or do some extra short stuff.
I still s*it myself to hurt my lower back, so I estimate it was an 95 percent effort, sub 15 should be possible without much extra training.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Probably not in all honesty...but as far as DL translating to an improved 1min or 500m it's a case of "all in good time". I'm in this for the long game. The 500m is soft but the 1min was actually a good effort. The HIT stuff had gone off the boil for me for a bit but I will be back; atm I'm quite curious as to what sort of 5K and 30mins scores I can do off of ~30K/week which is half what I was doing. Last week I did 18:38 for 5K so if I could get 18:2x and 8000m+ for 30mins then I'd not feel my aerobic ability was quite as bad I recently feared. It's like spinning plates.MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑August 5th, 2019, 3:04 pmThanks gammmmo! Congrats for your DL PB, a big improvement! Will you try a 1min or 500m TT soon? I'm curious how much impact your DL strength will haveGammmmo wrote: ↑August 5th, 2019, 1:04 pmYou will...he's added 7m to your 8016m....surely you can't let that rest.jimmyshand wrote: ↑August 4th, 2019, 8:01 am
Great work Martin! You're a beast during those final few minutes.
I'm going to have to dig deep and have another go at some of my PBs now!
Well done Martin
