Not enough people seem to do the distance of 6000m in my opinion.

If you have done a 6K what time have you clocked and what is it in relation to your 5K and 2K.

Mine is-
2000m – 6:24.0 – 1:36.0
5000m – 17:03.7 – 1:42.3 = 2K+6.3
6000m – 20:44.2 – 1:43.7 = 2K+7.7

The difference between 5K + 6K for me 1.4/500m. I think it should be lower than this, maybe 1:00.

What does everybody else think?

Sir Pirate
The difference between the 2k and 6k split for me is similar to yours.

2k = 7:09.8 - 1:47.4
6k = 22:54.3 - 1:54.5 = 2k + 7.1

I haven't done a 5k for about 3yrs so don't have a comparison there.

Cynthia

I agree about 1sec difference Phil. My best for 5k and 6k are 1:39.4 and 1:40.3, so 0.9 (against a 2k best of 1:32.9).

So 5k is 2k + 6.5
and 6k is 2k + 7.4

Mine is;

2k...1.40.9

5k...1.47.6

6k...1.49.5

you are right we don't do 6k's often enough.

but why a 5k? Why not a 2k, 4k, 6k, etc? surely 5k's are wrong and should never be rowed

2k- 6:59.3; 1:44.8 avg

6k-22:04.6; 1:50.4 avg

My coach said that you normally add 6-10 splits to your 2k and your 6k should be around there... 6 for the smaller guys, 10 for the bigger ones...

I've done one 6k, which was a week after my 5k PB.

The 6k was .4 slower than the 5k.

I should have done the 10k instead and got my 10k PB, so feel it was a mistake to do the 6k.

Also there is no reason for having the 6k as it is almost the same as a 5k.

2k: 1:51.0
5k: 1:53.7 = 2k + 2.7
6k: 1:54.1 = 2k + 3.1
